From triple-word scores to fresh new looks, today was a busy one at The Place! 🎲✂️

We kicked things off with some morning board games. A huge shoutout to our residents who tried Scrabble for the first time—they were absolute naturals! Meanwhile, our salon was buzzing as the hairdresser stopped by for some well-deserved pampering. 💇‍♂️✨

The afternoon was all about winding down. The Gentlemen’s Club enjoyed a few shandies, a competitive round of dominoes, and plenty of laughs. To top it off, the ladies spent a creative afternoon crafting their own beautiful bespoke jewellery. 💍🍻

This afternoon, we had a very special visit from The Ukulymies to celebrate World Ukulele Day in the best way possible.

The lounge was absolutely buzzing! From the very first chord, our residents were:

🎤 Singing along to every classic tune

👏 Clapping in rhythm

😂 Sharing plenty of laughs

What made the afternoon truly special was seeing some of our residents who don't usually join in for the entertainment coming along to enjoy the show. It was wonderful to see them fully engaged, tapping their toes, and having such a great time with the rest of the group.

Music really does have a magic way of bringing us all together! A huge thank you to The Ukulymies for such a joyful and lively performance. You certainly struck a chord with us! 🎶✨

Our residents had a busy, heartwarming, and truly productive weekend with the wonderful Ros! From creative crafts to community walks, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Here is a look at what we got up to:

✨ Positivity Jars: We kicked things off by making special jars filled with uplifting notes. Whenever someone needs a little boost, we can pull out a message of inspiration to brighten the day!

🍻 Pub Walk: Taking advantage of the fresh air, one of our residents enjoyed a lovely stroll down to the Travellers Rest for a well-earned pint and a good chat.

💅 Pamper & Polish: The afternoon was all about relaxation! We enjoyed some soothing pamper sessions alongside our regular 'Knit and Natter'—the perfect way to unwind and catch up.

🌱 Celebrating Imbolc: We got our green thumbs ready by planting seeds to mark Imbolc Day. This traditional festival marks the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox the very beginning of spring! We can’t wait to see what blooms.

It was a weekend centered on connection, positivity, and looking forward to the brighter days ahead. Thank you, Ros, for such a thoughtful variety of activities!

We had such a wonderful afternoon with the incredibly talented Dionne. She didn’t just bring her amazing voice; she brought so much thoughtfulness, too! 🎤

Dionne made sure everyone could join in the fun. As you can see, the music was so infectious that our residents couldn't help but get up for a dance together! 💃🕺

We had a fantastic fitness session today with Nathan! Our residents were busy "pumping iron" to some upbeat fitness tracks, showing off their strength and staying active. 🏋️‍♂️🎶

The best part was the incredible team spirit everyone was applauding each other's efforts and cheering one another on. A huge thank you to Nathan for leading such an energising session and keeping everyone motivated! 👏✨

What a wonderful afternoon we had! ☕️🧁

Tea time was a resounding success as we served up homemade cinnamon rolls. It was a delight to see even the residents with the most refined palates nodding their approval and genuinely enjoying every bite!

The celebrations didn’t stop there we also enjoyed some special entertainment, privately sourced by a family to celebrate one of our resident’s 80th birthdays! 🥳🎶 Everyone had an absolute blast, with many already asking when we can do it all again!

A huge thank you to the family for sharing such a joyful milestone with us. 🎂✨

Things got a little competitive today as our residents brought their "A-game" to a lively round of Skittles! 🏆

After mastering the lightweight set last time, we decided to raise the stakes today. We introduced weighted skittles and a heavier ball to add a bit of a challenge. Not only did this make the game more interesting, but it was a fantastic way to encourage some gentle strength-building for the arms!

The room was full of energy as everyone:

Leveled up their skills with the new equipment.

Cheered each other on with every frame.

Shared plenty of laughs and friendly rivalry.

There was a lovely atmosphere in The Snug this morning as our residents gathered for Sunday service.

Last night, we raised a glass to the legendary Robert Burns! Our residents got into the spirit of Burns Night by helping to hand-color the Saltire (the Scottish flag), which we proudly hung up for our celebrations. 🎨

Before sitting down to our traditional dinner, we spent time exploring the life and poetry of Robbie Burns with some custom-made factual info sheets. It was a lovely way to learn more about his legacy while enjoying some great company!

We’ve had a busy and beautiful few days here at The Place. We started with a relaxing "Pamper Morning"—our in-house hair salon was buzzing, and residents enjoyed soothing hand massages and fresh manicures. 💅💆‍♀️

Once we were feeling our best, it was time for some friendly competition with board games, dominoes, and a lively round of Bingo! 🎲🔢

We also got our "Cupid" hats on to hand-make Valentine’s Day cards, which will be available soon in our home shop! ❤️ To top it all off, the kitchen smelled heavenly as we baked a fresh batch of blueberry muffins. 🫐🧁

Our residents had a fantastic weekend adventure! We enjoyed a scenic stroll over to the City Farm, making a few furry friends along the way and pausing at the bridge to see what the ducks were up to. 🦆

A huge thank you to the wonderful guide who walked us through the farm. Our residents loved getting up close to feed and pet the animals—there were smiles all around!

To top off a perfect outing, we headed back home to get cozy and warm up with some well-deserved hot drinks. ☕️✨
