We’ve had a fantastic day of celebrations here! We kicked things off with Irish music playing all day to keep the energy high, followed by a delicious, traditional Irish stew served with fresh bread and, of course, a little Guinness! 🥣🍺

Our residents also settled in to watch the incredible Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, it was a huge hit and definitely got some toes tapping! 🕺✨

Things got a little competitive with our St. Paddy’s target game! Everyone gave it their all throwing velcro balls to snag the top spot. A huge congratulations to our winner, Anne, who took home a beautiful bracelet as her prize! 🏆✨

The highlight for many was our live acoustic entertainment by Dan. He was absolutely brilliant, and our residents haven’t stopped talking about him! His talent really brought the room to life and created such a wonderful atmosphere. 🎸🎶

💃 Dancing the week away: The Snug has been the place to be! We had a proper boogie and kept those spirits high.
💇‍♀️ Pamper Time: A huge thank you to our hairdresser for stopping by. Ros made sure everyone was feeling their absolute best!
🎨 Creative Mornings: The residents put their heads together to design a beautiful poster for our upcoming Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea. We’d love to see you there!
🌱 Green Thumbs: We soaked up every bit of that gorgeous sunshine to get the garden ready for the big Safe Harbor Gardening Competition. Our new colourful baskets look absolutely stunning!

From the brave Suffragettes who fought for our rights to the amazing women in our home today history was the theme of the hour! ✊💜

We recently held our Residents’ Meeting, and the energy was fantastic. We are so proud to share that 11/11 residents voted that they are happy living here—and they enjoyed the get-together so much that we’ve officially moved to monthly meetings by popular demand! ☕️🍪

Here’s a look at what our residents have been up to and what’s coming this April:

📢 Better Visuals for Everyone
We’re upgrading our notice boards! To help those with visual impairments or reading difficulties, we are introducing larger text and a weekly photo-based calendar. The residents gave the new bright photos a big "thumbs up!" 👍

🗓️ An Action-Packed April
Our residents have hand-picked their favorite activities for the month ahead:

🐶 Pet Awareness: Plenty of dog visits, petting, and treats.

🍷 Tastings: Sampling everything from local beers and Malbec to a variety of teas.

🥨 Sweet Treats: Macaron sampling (the residents decided they’d rather eat them than bake them—we don't blame them!).

🌍 Earth Day: Gardening, bird watching, and making our own planters.

🏆 Competition: A cross-home Dominoes tournament with our sister homes.

🐣 Easter Celebrations
We’re skipping the traditional egg hunt this year and focusing on what our residents love most: Hot Cross Buns on Good Friday, a refreshing Easter Sunday Walk, and an Easter Monday Quiz to test our wits!

It’s going to be a busy, happy month at The Place. A huge thank you to all our residents for their brilliant contributions and for making our community so special. 👏✨

We had a very busy week here, highlighted by a truly special birthday celebration! Our birthday girl was treated like the queen she is, surrounded by love and laughter.

Here’s a look at what else we’ve been up to:

Musical Mornings: We tested our memory with a 50s and 60s music guessing game over tea, coffee, and (of course) plenty of biscuits! ☕🍪

Sensory & Strategy: From getting creative with therapeutic sensory play-dough to some friendly (but competitive!) games of Connect4. 🔴🟡

Spa Day: Our lovely hairdresser was in to work her magic, and I had the pleasure of pampering the ladies with some fresh manicures. 💅

The Grand Finale: We wrapped things up with a high-energy karaoke session in The Snug. There was plenty of toe-tapping, singing along, and pure joy! 🎤🎶

It’s been a fantastic few days here at the home! ☀️

✈️ The Great Aeroplane Contest: We had so many laughs putting our engineering skills to the test. There was plenty of thrill (and a few crash landings!) as the competition took flight.

☕️ Gents Club: Beyond the flying, it was wonderful for the Gents Club to simply sit, chat, and properly catch up with one another in the fresh air.

After a long stretch of rain, we soaked up every bit of sunshine we could find before heading into The Snug for a peaceful Sunday service. 🕊️

We had an absolute blast during the Safe Harbour Winter Olympics. All three homes brought their spirit, energy, and a serious appetite for victory! It was a day filled with cheers, non-stop laughter, and some very close calls.

Our residents have been absolute stars over the past few days, rolling up their sleeves to help us stock the shop. We couldn't have done it without them!

To keep the momentum going, we’ve been:

Sharpening our wits with some competitive rounds of Hangman (they're getting too good!).

Finding our flow with morning stretches to start the day energized.

Getting creative by hand-making beautiful blossom branches to celebrate Chinese New Year. 🌸

Our home has been transformed into a Valentine’s wonderland! A huge, special thank you goes to Ros, who spent so much time making sure every heart was in place and everything was set up perfectly for our residents. We couldn't have done it without your hard work and magic touch! 🌹

Our residents have been busy getting into the spirit too:

Handmade with Love: Creating beautiful Valentine’s cards for their sweethearts and friends. 💌

Salt Dough Keepsakes: Making and decorating lovely salt dough ornaments to hang around the home.
