Symptoms can include;

- Skin that’s extremely sensitive to pain and/or touch

This is a condition I see in clinic, but please always see your GP if you think you may be suffering from PHN. Getting treatment for this as soon as possible can help your recovery 💙

I’m still here! 👋🏼
Social media has stayed well and truly on the back burner recently, but I just wanted to pop on and say I’m still here, offering medical acupuncture and lifestyle advice from my calm little clinic here in Bude.

Thank you for keeping me so busy ☺️ It is so lovely to continue welcoming new and old faces through the doors and see the benefits each day that a drug-free alternative can have for people.

If you’ve got any questions about how medical acupuncture could help you, please just let me know 💙.

A truly inspiring day at the day 1 yesterday. Thank you to all the organisers and presenters. There were so many things I enjoyed but my highlights were;

- A talk from the previous Surgeon General of the US who has worked in both the Biden and Obama administrations. He highlighted the often-neglected link between loneliness and social isolation with chronic ill health and despite his incredibly high level of work was a humble and gentle man to meet.
- Dr Jernej Drobez talk on neuroplasticity and pain perception.
- Dr Dean Ornish talk on the aging process, DNA and lifestyle
- Dr George Ampat’s talk on treating back pain without medicine
- Dr Sui Wong .neurologist talk on migraine management using lifestyle medicine

It was great to meet so many other likeminded and passionate healthcare professionals working in the area like and .

So excited to see how this practice evolves 🩵

It was really important to me when designing this space, to create somewhere that works as a clinical area with all the facilities to treat safely and effectively but also somewhere that feels safe, calm and inviting.

As with any renovation I still have parts I’d like to tweak, but I’ve received some lovely feedback from patients, and more recently this lovely review, which means so much. I’m so proud to have created an environment that makes patients feel this way 🩵

As a nurse medical acupuncturist I truly believe in assisting people with their clinical needs as well as supporting them to feel better in their whole body. Whether that’s recovering from pain, managing overwhelm and stress or reconnecting with calm during a highly emotional time. Every session is designed to be effective and centred around you for your wellbeing as well as your health concern. And if it’s only wellbeing you’re after, I’m here for that too as it’s crucial for good health 💙

I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, but definitely not in person. 💙

It’s been a busy couple of weeks here, with another trip up to Gloucester to work alongside Dr Hardwick at the local hospital acupuncture pain clinic, an acupuncture for cancer and palliative care group meeting, busy clinics with lots of new faces, liaising with other healthcare professionals, more work behind the scenes, and trying to get my vegetable seedlings into the ground before they shrivel up 😆.

Also, this sun is very distracting 🫢- anyone else finding the same?! 💙

If you think medical acupuncture is performed in a clinical sterile environment, think again 💚

While some musculoskeletal treatments may look a little bit different, here at Bude Medical Acupuncture the majority of my treatments take place in a set-up similar to this; comfortable, cushioned, warm and cosy. With relaxing music too- definitely for those who enjoy being left to sink fully into the couch quietly and make the most of ‘you’ time while the needles work their magic ✨

These types of treatments include;
▫️Women’s health (including menopause, PCOS, endometriosis, menstrual concerns, hormones)
▫️Fertility (including natural or assisted conception)
▫️Symptoms of cancer and its treatment (incl. fatigue, hot flushes, nausea & pain)
▫️Chronic conditions (incl. migraines, gastrointestinal disorders, fibromyalgia, arthritis, allergies, sleep disorders)
▫️Pain (post-operative or chronic)
▫️Addictions
▫️General wellbeing, stress and anxiety
And a lot, lot more …

Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) is a complex disorder that affects up to 13% of reproductive aged women worldwide (many more undiagnosed) making it one of the more common hormonal conditions to affect women.

PCOS usually shows up during adolescence and can affect the body in a range of ways with symptoms including acne, irregular periods, excessive hair growth, infertility and weight gain but is also linked to an increased risk of other health conditions. So if you think you’re suffering from symptoms of PCOS, always speak to your healthcare professional. To find out more about PCOS and its symptoms visit the NHS website.

If you’ve got any questions about the use of acupuncture in PCOS please send me a message; part of the training I’ve been undertaking in women’s health and acupuncture has included a module on the studies and research of acupuncture in PCOS patients and supporting menstruation, ovulation, hormone levels, PCOS symptoms and anxiety. 💙

Those who’ve met me or been treated by me know I love a bit of research 🤓

I just wanted to extend a really big thank you to and all those that paused to listen to me talk yesterday at your cancer support cafe.

It was a real privilege to be there and be able to discuss the uses and benefits of acupuncture in cancer care with you all and also meet so many of you lovely people individually afterwards- thank you ☺️.

If there was anyone that didn’t get a chance to chat at the end and wanted to, or maybe you didn’t get to attend the talk and have some questions yourself, I’m really happy to answer any questions. Just send me a message and we’ll arrange a time to talk. For those that left their details I look forward to getting in contact with you all over the next few days 🙏🏻 🩵

For anyone that is affected by cancer locally, is an amazing inviting group that offers lots of opportunities for support, companionship and activities in Bude for free, including coffee mornings, exercise, yoga, flower arranging, cookery and more. Give them a follow to keep up to date with what’s on or message them to get in touch with one of their lovely volunteers. 💙

Fatigue related to cancer is one of the most frequently-reported side effects of cancer and cancer treatment, affecting most patients at some point with many still suffering from the sometimes debilitating effects of fatigue long-term. Don’t expect to have to feel this way.

There can be many reasons why fatigue is affecting you, so before you make big changes to address your health, speak to your Oncology or Haematology specialist team first. It affects each individual differently and has different causes.

If you would like to discuss some non-medicated options available to help reduce cancer-related fatigue, improve your mood and energy levels please get in touch and I will arrange a free 15 minute phone call to discuss your needs.

If you are looking for complementary health support and advice, especially while undergoing treatment for cancer, always find a practitioner who is regulated and has undergone additional training in treating patients with cancer. 💙

Brain bursting right now with all the advanced knowledge I’ve just had pumped into it by the in London over the past couple of days.

So excited to be able to offer even more specialised care for my fertility and IVF patients in and around North Cornwall after completing an advanced course in acupuncture for assisted conception 🧬 with the amazing and Rachel .

I’ve met some pretty inspiring practitioners of fertility acupuncture over this time too, and am so excited to delve even deeper for my patients to give them a greater chance of success.

Are you constantly feeling frustrated with the lack of sleep you’re getting?

Around a third of adults suffer from sleep problems each week. More than 10% would be classed as having an insomnia disorder.

The prevalence of insomnia and sleep disturbances is also heightened in those who suffer from chronic pain or chronic health conditions. That means there are a large amount of us who are not actually getting as much sleep as we should be.

Sometimes it might just be a fleeting period of poor sleep, related to stresses and life circumstances or sometimes they last longer, affecting long-term sleep and wellness.

And then there are those of us who might be worrying about what sleep we are getting when actually, what we are getting is fine. We all need different amounts of sleep and worrying about it can make sleep worse.

Patients come for acupuncture to help with sleep troubles alone, or as part of their wider health concerns which is contributing to poor sleep.

If you are struggling with sleep problems, don’t ignore them. There are many options available to help you get back to sleeping well again.

Check out or for more tips and message me if you’d like an appointment at Bude Medical Acupuncture for help with sleep issues.

Always see your GP or call 111 if your poor sleep issues are affecting your daily life or causing you distress.
