I'm gonna start with the moral of the story (in case you don't have time to read it) - keep practicing yoga where ever you do and it will bring a world of good into your life in ways you can't imagine.
There's truth in this artwork for me. Well, I'm a capricorn for one and I love a rope and tyre stew... mmm
Bad joke aside, I've always thrived in order and looked for structure in pretty much everything. How much it's got to do with my birth sign or growing up in the eastern bloc I don't know, but planning and organising was a way of life for me that made me feel in control of the experiences I'd have or wouldn't have.
Until I began to realise that life don't give a toss about my plans and this idea of being in control is just an illusion. In fact plans gave me tunel vision that was limiting my poin of view and possibilities whilst setting me up for endless disappointments. Looking back it made me feel unsatisfied and mostly unhappy with my life.
It was yoga that led me to realise this.
Funny thing is, l had no idea that any changes were needed at the time but I enjoyed a good stretch twice a week. Don't we all?
The transformation in my mindset happened without any intention. And it took some time, it was gradual and it was life changing.
It set me off on a journey of loosening my grip around life and my relationship with it. I wanted to become more confortable with less structure, with less certainty, with more freedom. Completing my yoga teacher training with in 2020 and losing my full time "secure" job due to the pandemic in the same year gave a significant helping hand with getting to where I am today.
Of course the journey is ongoing and the practice is never-ending. Progress isn't linear either and some structure can be good too. It's really about findig balance and knowing when it serves me and when it's not.
Namaste 🙏🏻
