The 1:1 Diet is big on science. Obviously, lots of research goes into our products and the nutrition they provide. But there’s also science behind how we support you in creating lasting change.
An example is the 5 A’s principle. This is a framework that has long been used in healthcare and obesity management. As its name suggests, the framework is comprised of 5 A's: Assess, Advise, Agree, Assist and Arrange.
According to experts in obesity management, "The 5 A's framework has become the universal approach to teaching and practising the art of encouraging behaviour change".
Change is hard. It’s why so many of us need support in creating positive habits.
As with anything, knowledge is power. So let’s take a look at how each of the As shows applies to your journey on Plan.
Assess
Assess is when we look at your starting point, what’s happening for you right now around your eating habits and your weight.
Your previous history, medical issues, preferences, lifestyle, time constraints and other key factors are all considered.
We’ll dig deep into your reasons for wanting to lose weight. This is what will keep you motivated.
We’ll create a full picture of your starting point and where you want to go.
Advise
Advise is the stage during which we discuss your goals. It’s more than just deciding on a number on the scale or a dress size.
We’ll use everything we learned from the Assess stage to consider what will work for you and against you throughout your journey.
I’ll advise you on what a healthy weight loss journey looks like, what the possible benefits and outcomes could be, and also consider the future negative consequences of inaction.
I will advise you as you set your short and long term goals.
Agree
Agree is when the various specifics of how your diet are decided.
This is where we will decide what Step you are going to start on, which products will be best for you, and reconfirm your short and long term goals.
It’s essential that you’re happy with the choices - that you're fully invested in all the decision making.
Assist
Assist is all about identifying the support you need. As an experienced The 1:1 Diet Consultant, I have more than just a knowledge of nutrition and diet. I’ve worked with many different dieters so have a wealth of tools to support you.
I’m passionate about you never feeling alone in this journey.
Each person needs a different level and type of personal support - and this can change over your time on Plan.
Arrange
Arrange refers to looking ahead to any follow up support you may need once you reach your goals.
We’ll reflect on the strategies you’ve learned along the way, and can now use independently, while having the reassurance that I am always there for you whatever you may need.
