THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

My target of raising £10,000 for The League of Friends of Stratton Hospital throughout the season of car booting has been well and truly surpassed this bank holiday weekend. On Sunday 24th August with Jill, Louise, Jeannie, Di, John, Keith, Michael and Cynthia holding the donation buckets the remarkable amount of £716.46 collected. Most notes ever.

On Bank Holiday Monday £348.17 donated in the buckets to John, Pat, Christine, Di, Michael and Cynthia. THANK YOU so much for appreciating Pendeen. This would have been such a good year to close Pendeen with now £11,025.33 raised and may be a bit more to add if any Sunday left, we can open.

We close this season Sunday 28th September five Sundays left but not looking promising this Sunday?

End of March 2026 Sandra, Karl and I with TEAM PENDEEN hope now to continue for another year. It is a huge commitment for me being the one most responsible to keep the sales going. So much goes on in the background and yesterday I was disappointed to find melon rind left over part of the selling area. This is totally unacceptable just as leaving tea bags it's not nice for whoever has that pitch the following Sunday.

Compliment from the Punch and Judy man how clean the Porto Loos were even after Sunday's sale when he used one first thing in the morning Monday. Another seller complimented that Pendeen is the best sale to buy at and showed me an item he bought for two quid unbelievable as it was like new and would have been expensive.

So many compliments forthcoming and with the donations on such a high. With so many preferring Pendeen to the cities near them, with me promoting the town of Stratton with signs saying Stratton as you approach on the A39. Stratton has a hospital, and we are so far away from the major ones. Stratton also has a major car boot sale I wonder where? Lol

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

For the support this bank holiday to the bucket collectors, the volunteers, the sellers, the buyers and all visitors to the area.

What a car boot Bank Holiday Weekend at Pendeen 317 sellers yesterday and 150 sellers today. Compliments all round on how good the organisation is and that we are to continue next year. Porto Loos well used thinking to increase them to eight next year for the numbers attending. Delighted to hear how some of the sellers are taking huge amounts of money and others not so good but able to buy before 1pm opening.

Any minor complaints dwelt with straight away sometimes we don’t know about them unless we are told. The volunteers deal with any problem but today a family ignored a volunteers request to turn their radio down and then I intervened to say they had been asked twice and still disobeyed near the end of the sale packing up wouldn’t do as I asked politely so simple ban came into force. Photo taken of number plate threatening behaviour from them I called for help assistance from many, volunteers all there to protect me and I felt like the president when guided away to safety. Young man came up shortly after and apologised, the ban remains his dad came up after still raging, with me turning my back and ignoring. Unfortunately for you Sir you were having a go at one of the bosses of Pendeen and actual owner of the site. Also, buyers came to me after and said how rude you were to them when buying from your pitch. Was I shaking or bothered not a bit. Volunteers are to be obeyed Pendeen acts when something is brought to our attention, and many know this giving Pendeen its high reputation. Did this spoil my day not a bit. THANK YOU TO ALL that do as we ask knowing we are there to make your day as enjoyable as we can.

Loved the Punch and Judy show today and again someone spoilt this yesterday but none of us knew until the end of sale.

Haven’t been spoken to like that for several years now our rules are enforced end of.

THANK YOU FOR SUCH SUPPORT THIS WEEKEND AND BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY. Can’t wait to update on the donation buckets over £10,000 has been now raised this season and another £500 has gone to one of our charities we choose. 🙂

We open for this weekend both Sunday August 24th and Bank Holiday Monday 25th normal times, weather on side.

Today Thursday 21st is Team Pendeen's Truffles 13th birthday she has hardly missed a car boot sale only when the weather is to warm always there to greet the early buyers with Sandra and selling with Rose all afternoon, until the site is clear for playtime with Treacle. 🥳

We have five Sundays left August 31st, September 7th,14th,21st and 28th to finish the 2025 season how many of them we can do remains to be seen weatherwise? 🤔🙂

Honestly, I can’t believe we have broken last week's donation record already. £718.53 was collected in the buckets Sunday August 17th. £50 from a trader even without that generous amount we still would have been higher than last week. A huge THANK YOU to all that donated and the appreciation. Generosity being shown at PENDEEN. There may have been fewer notes donated but the substantial number of buyers in attendance certainly gave coinage with Freda, Mary, Christine, Di, Keith, Michael and Cynthia holding the buckets THANK YOU. Strange I said to Freda and Mary at the beginning just before 1pm last week's amount will take some beating and lo and betide we have.
Karl told me this afternoon whilst litter picking in the rain another gentleman paid £5 to come in as an early buyer and still put another £5 in the donation bucket, a late seller just after 1pm gave me £10 needing £3 change which I hadn’t on me at the time, so she said put that for a donation which I remembered to do when home. Folk can be so generous and so appreciative and another reason to persuade me to continue and ignore the greed that as a family we do see.
I am going to mention something I will never forget a picnic table and bench maker from St Teath sadly no longer with us who came with his small van loaded inside and on top very loyal to Pendeen and so appreciative as over the years with us firstly gave us a picnic table and then latterly before ill health gave us a bench as well with the top quality stainless steel bolts, screws etc so as wouldn’t rust this has to be the biggest perk I had in organising the sales, Plenty of smaller gifts and items reduced from other sellers in appreciation.
Another gentleman buyer only, again sadly no longer with us who so loved buying at Pendeen possibly a hoarder said I mustn’t be greedy and was concerned I might increase the pitch fees to this day pitch fees have remained the same with no increase likely. Back then I believe the early buyer fee was £10 to prevent buyers coming in early. For some reason we decided after the year off for Covid to reduce the early buyer fee to £5 and couldn’t believe how many paid that at that first go off and continue to do so to the present day with many saying it’s so worthwhile. Yes, there are those totally against the idea and want a free for all. But it is our car boot sale which is so successful and popular unfortunately for me, and money from your early entry fees do go to our chosen charities and organisations but mostly safeguards the cancellations throughout the season when the upkeep of the site and Porto Loos must be maintained. Generosity from you, generosity from us. We try and ignore those that are only out for themselves nowadays. 🙂

So tired after co organising another very successful dance event at Holsworthy last night going to bed at 12.30am and waking at 5am to be on site at 5.45am till 5.50pm. To run another hugely successful car boot sale at Pendeen. Visitor from Manchester Pendeen outshines any car boot sale there so impressed with our lay out.

We see it all at Pendeen happy folk, loyalty, greed, jealousy, friendship, love, rules, generosity, all ages, social side and sadness at loosing someone. Loyalty comes to mind with the food caterers always loyal to Pendeen hot food plus Candyland, Pasty man, Slush, Ice-cream etc. Then there are so many loyal sellers some not even bothering with other car boot sales. Today so many from the Okehampton area with me not even realising they were from there. 253 sellers today speaking to several having another remarkable sale. Buyers filling the car parks and spending. Greed unfortunately has always been with us since the beginnings. Jealousy well we see that on this page at times. Our rules are there to be adhered to and not ignored. Generosity from us and some to us in return. Having left the site when I did litter so minimal think you all realise now, I was ready to pack it all in and now the majority don’t want that just yet and are doing your extra bit to keep Pendeen going. Folk are so appreciative and the comment was made last week on here all car boot sales have complaints. When a complaint is made its dwelt with straight away, but Pendeen rarely has any at all. Especially on here. I deleted the comment in the end as the person writing couldn’t care less about us, and I thought it strange he was reading my output. But hey Ho came home upbeat at today's tremendous achievement and we do it all again this BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND BOTH SUNDAY AND MONDAY. Thank you for such support. Thank You TEAM PENDEEN. 🙂

Sunday August 17th OPEN on this fine weather forecast as we anticipate folk travelling from all over the West Country plus the visitors that are here. Hopefully two icecream vendors and three hot food establishments, Mustn't for get Candyland and the Slush stand. Unfortunately no pasty man this week. Pendeen caters for all and numbers attending the site gives booters a popular favourite for us to carry on as long as folk make life easier for us to continue into 2026.
Enjoy whilst the volunteers work so hard to bring you a very large sale 200 plus sellers. Seven clean Porto Loos spread over the site any problem dwelt with as soon as reported. Car booters (yourselves) make Pendeen the success it is. With TEAM PENDEEN somehow we are just top of our game. Enjoy all car boot sales this weekend wherever whilst the fine weather brings sellers out. 🤔

Wow I can’t believe we have beaten the record for the third time this season, £659.27 donated for the League of Friends of Stratton Hospital Sunday August 10th in appreciation of our sales at Pendeen. THANK YOU SO MUCH knowing now we are probably reaching the highest we may ever get on a Sunday who knows? Having the likes of John, Pat, Di, Rob, Michael and Cynthia holding the buckets until gone 3pm. Two hours of donations, Thank you to them.

Having read the comments on another car boot site which were soon deleted about how sellers were dissatisfied and asking for a refund. I was thinking I haven’t had to delete any comments recently, then someone asking how many sellers were there and another saying they heard it was such and such. Thats a bit like someone coming on this page and saying they heard it was over five hundred at Pendeen which has been said in the past and I must tell them nothing like it. The most we have ever had is 398 sellers years ago after several cancellations in a row and nowhere like the room 337 sellers took this past Sunday nearly filling the lower part of the site. Nothing like telling the truthful facts as on here and not advertising under false pretences.
With the previous comments I am so pleased at Pendeen's out come this past Sunday seeing it was beach weather may have been a blessing not sure we would have been able to accommodate many more buyers. Perfect weather for a perfect car boot sale with plenty of money around to spend if the goods are a bargain to purchase.

Sunday the 17th looks promising weatherwise? Then a Bank Holiday Weekend Sunday 24th and Monday 25th August will this spell of dry weather hold, with donations at present £9,242.17 can we take that amount over my target each year of £10,000

Litter minimal Thank you, Shame we haven’t drone footage of this Sunday when full. Expect Paul was busy elsewhere Keith and I need to speak to you when on site again. 🙂

The selling area was nearly filled to capacity 337 sellers today with plenty of room to set up. Buyers and visitors were there in force and kept coming to extend the sale longer today. With many sellers having a remarkable day and even donating into the buckets. Obviously I am uneasy when so many sellers come as I prefer 200 on a weekly basis but with the recent cancellations and now such a fine forecast this happens. What you bring and offer for sale has a lot to do with the outcome but, you are in and have the chance to browse all the items everyone else is trying to flog before 1 pm. Also being the larger of sales now in the West Country Pendeen attracts buyers all over. Visitors there from Holland at the end even when the main car park entrance was closed. Loved the sale and went away absolutely delighted with their purchases. Folk are willing to spend just as they donate. Volunteers done another remarkable set up it’s like a jigsaw every piece fits somewhere. Several regulars missing today so many new sellers filling their usual pitches. Appreciation from so many THANK-YOU. 🙂

It’s a big one at Pendeen over 300 sellers and still coming the sun has brought them out today.
