What a beautiful sunset for a beautiful soul 🌅

Today many, many people came to welcome Maria, wishing her well on her next journey - people who held her so dearly to them 💖

A sea of colourful butterflies went with you, carefully placed by those who love you.
In time as you settle into your new home, your wildflowers will grow bright and tall 🌸🌼

Year on year the butterflies that you loved so, will stop by with you and flutter their wings, as the sun shines down☀️ 🦋

Welcome to Penlow Maria - home forever 💚

P O L I T E • N O T I C E

Please could we ask that those of you attending Maria’s burial on Wednesday to carshare if you can?

Whilst we do have a fair bit of parking on site (40-maybe 50 cars) - if everyone arrives as one person, per car… it could be tricky.

Even if you are unable to car share from Bude or wherever; you could do so from the big lay-by near the main road please.

We do ask everyone attending funerals to stop at the end of the lane (as you come into the car park) to be given instructions of where is best for you to park. It does take a little more time on arrival but it means that you will all be facing in the right direction and able to filter out once Maria has been welcomed to Penlow.

It looks as if she will have some glorious sunshine to send her on her next adventure ☀️

Thank you in advance for your cooperation 🌿

I’m not really one for trends and usually only get on board with them once they are out of fashion!

However today I thought we would take part in International Women’s Day.
I wanted to mention some rather young women who I know I will be bias about - but they are both incredibly wonderful 🥰

Whilst they don’t always want to get involved with Atlantic Rest and sometimes wonder what on earth we created in our business - they do more often that not, want to be involved, especially if it means driving some machinery or helping us to prepare to receive new residents.

This morning both girls have very capably driven the utility vehicle (safely whilst supervised) to help us both to carry out various jobs like mulching trees and extending the path in the woods. The girls even told Tom in no uncertain terms when he dropped them off at school on Friday, that he and I were not to carry out the pothole filling that we had planned that day - because they wanted to help!

We can all inspire each other and being kind ought to be normal 💚

On this St. Piran’s day we had a very Cornish arrival. We say 'Penlow a'gas dynnergh Heather' (Penlow welcomes you Heather)

All details planned by you; with more to come in the remembrance of your wonderful life.

Rest well and enjoy your next adventure 🖤🤍🖤🤍

It’s been a busy week at Penlow, we started the week with Simon coming back and making a very good start at coppicing the coppice 💪 Thank you Simon

Tuesday saw lots more progress in rebuilding the pages of our website - still not quite finished but looking much more how I’d like it to be. 💻

Wednesday we had a visit from the lovely Ele and Anthony who created and run Pentiddy Natural Burials in Liskeard. Lovely to catch up with them both; and for them to see how Penlow has changed since their last visit in 2017, when we hosted an ANBG meeting!

Thursday was another office day filled with all sorts, including sending out our press release for our recent People’s Award - written for us by my lovely friend Sarah 💚

Then today Tom and I have made some more progress in the coppice. It wasn’t really our intention, but Simon is busy for a week or two and Tom decided he wanted to hire a chipper! So that was his mission this morning to collect that one and we chipped the brash and used it to start resurfacing the paths in the woods.
I think it’s lovely that these trees have now gone full circle - they have been growing in the coppice for the last 11 years producing oxygen and supporting life ; and now they will become partly firewood and partly new paths, then they can grow all over again! ♾️
There is still lots more to do but progress is good. I’m excited to see what flowers will naturally germinate now the trees are coppiced 🌳

With this incredibly wet weather we have had to close the entrance to the woods (the one to the right, that’s nearer the bees) - it’s very muddy and that wasn’t helped by me driving the mower in the wrong direction earlier today 🙈 poor Tom has to get me out of trouble frequently with this sort of thing…my sense of direction does not always serve me well!

Today our Penlow family grew by one, we welcomed an angel in her own right 🩶

Joan now rests in her new home that will become a wild peaceful garden surrounding her 🌸🌼

Even the birds joined in with Joan’s welcome - they had much to say today with their own tweeting chorus of melody 🎶

Today we welcome Mike, we almost welcomed him in a hail storm but were thankfully able to wait for it to pass.

May you enjoy your new surroundings, that will ever change in every season, chosen by you.

Following on from our story posts across various platforms about the website issues that we’ve experienced; we made the decision yesterday to move to a different provider and platform for the website.

We are very grateful to the very clever Rob at BudeSEO for creating us a website in a matter of hours yesterday afternoon, and for reinstating our presence on the very enormous World Wide Web.

We are taking this as an opportunity to restructure our website a little and ask you to please be patient as we add pages back, in a bit of a different order. It is an unexpected time absorbing process.

It’s very unfortunate that our original provider was hit in this way. I would also urge anyone with a website to make sure they are super safe.

As always if you have any questions in the meantime - please call or email in the usual way.

Thank you 👩‍💻

Well Jacqui what can we say; the weather wasn’t exactly kind but that didn’t stop your nearest and dearest coming to say their goodbyes to you 💗
After we’d tucked you in with the love and care you deserve - the grey skies brightened, changing to a beautiful wispy blue, so you could ‘soak up the sun’. ☀️

Welcome to your new home Jacqui, filled with all the wildlife you could ever imagine 🐝🦋🐞 💛
