Bact community transport

Bact community transport We have several services:

Cars
Wheelchair accessible vehicles
Minibus
Dial-a-ride

These services are open to all: young, old, able-bodied or infirm.

Providing transport in Lowestoft,Beccles, Bungay, Loddon, Harleston & surrounding villages (Suffolk/Norfolk) to people whom forms of public transport are not easily available.

Andrea started driving for Bact in August last year. This is what she has to say about it:

"I absolutely love driving for Bact.
It’s a great feeling knowing you are helping so many people, who would otherwise be unable to get to their appointments & it’s so lovely to meet lots of different people, and everyone is so grateful that you are volunteering.
It’s so flexible, you can choose exactly when you want to drive, & as few or as many hours as you want. The staff at Bact are brilliant, they are so efficient & helpful & I feel very supported by them. The joining up process is very straightforward & didn’t take long before I could get started.
You’re provided with a super polo top & hi vis, & with my ID badge I feel very proud to be part of the charity."

Debbie has been driving her car as a volunteer for bact for over 6 months and loves it.
Debbie says, "I'd recently moved to the area and wanted to get out and about and meet people. I really enjoy helping people, whether that be a medical appointment or a hairdressing appointment, it may be their only trip out that week, so it's just as important (to avoid social isolation). The journey is just as important as the destination - l love to chat to my customers".

🚗 Are you able to help the Loddon community?

If you have a few hours each week that you’re looking to fill, why not volunteer with Bact Community Transport?

We are desperately looking for people in and around the Loddon area who enjoy driving and meeting people. You will help people to get to their appointments and other local destinations, using your own car or one of ours.

Last month bact community transport
•Provided transport for over 3,600 passenger trips.
•Thanks to our amazing 53 drivers and staff.
•Sadly 46 new passenger registrations were refused due to our limited resource.

We are still looking for new volunteers (to drive a bus or car) who enjoy driving, meeting people and have a few hours to spare each week. Could you help? Personal satisfaction is guaranteed. Why not give us a call 01986 896896? We would love to hear from you.

Essential: D1 on Driving licence, Enhance DBS check. Training to be provided.

Experience: Previous work of driving minibuses/dealing with elderly and vulnerable people would be an advantage.
