Replacing an original, longstanding home, the new, purpose built Moat House was officially opened by Angela Rippon OBE in 2013 following an £8m investment incorporating the latest disability equipment and adaptations. Nestled in the village centre conservation area of Burbage in Leicestershire, Moat House enjoys an unrivalled reputation with care professionals and the local community and is close to the bus stop and the village post office, church, shops, pubs, library, doctor’s surgery and train station. We offer first class accommodation with cosy lounge diners and en-suite showers in all bedrooms at reasonable prices, plus a working, 1960s reminiscence kitchen and DIY workshop to help stimulate the minds of residents with dementia. With Wi-Fi throughout, the home also has a host of fantastic social facilities including 'Flicks cinema opposite ‘Cuppa’ café, ‘Horse and Hounds’ pub, and ‘Quiffs’ hair and beauty salon. 🎶✨ Cynthia’s Make a Wish ✨🎶

We were overjoyed to make Cynthia’s very special wish come true on Friday! 💖 Cynthia, who used to be a music teacher at Eton College, often said “what I would do to see my Matthew again”, and thanks to our Fairy Godmothers, that dream became reality! 🌟

Her former student, now talented singer Matt Ford joined us for a wonderful afternoon of music and memories at Moat House. Not only did they enjoy a well-deserved catch-up, but Matt also brought his mother along for the reunion. 💕 He sang a few tracks for Cynthia and her friends at Moat House, filling the room with joy. 🎤🎶

Cynthia couldn’t have been prouder, telling everyone the story of teaching Matt in his youth. With tears of happiness, she said: “I’m absolutely speechless, this has made my day, my week, my year! I never want to let him go.” 🥹💜

We have been so excited to announce our official Sunflower measurements to you all, after Richard joined us in our garden this week!

Our worked extremely hard this summer to tend to our growing flowers, and their work certainly paid off.
Our tallest sunflower measured an outstanding 9ft 4in - placing us in 1st place! 🌻

🦮🐾 SURPRISE VISITS FROM OUR FURRY FRIENDS 🐾🦮

We recently had a special visitor at Moat House, our therapy dog! It brought many smiles to our faces as we enjoyed lots of cuddles 😁

It is known that pet therapy increases self-esteem and confidence for those living with Dementia, as well as alleviating any intruding thoughts of anxiety and improving communication.
