Happy International Nurses Day! 🩺💙
Today, we took a moment to pause and celebrate the incredible nursing team here at the home. From their tireless dedication to their professional expertise and the genuine compassion they show our residents every single day, they truly are the heartbeat of our home.
To show our appreciation, we showered them with treats and heartfelt thanks. It was wonderful to see everyone coming together to say "thank you" for the vital work they do.

🧶 Knitter Natter is Back!
We had a lovely, quiet start to the week as we officially reinstated our Knitter Natter group today!
It was a productive afternoon with a small group of residents sorting through our colourful wool supplies and getting everything organized for future projects. There is nothing quite like a good catch-up over a basket of yarn.
A special mention goes to our newest resident, Ann, who decided today was the perfect day to pick up a new skill. She spent the time learning the basics of crochet— Whether you're a knitting pro, a crochet beginner, or just here for the "natter," there’s always a seat at the table.

🖐️ The Hands of Time: Different Generations, Timeless Connection 🖐️
We are so proud to unveil our completed intergenerational wall display! This project has been a wonderful collaboration between our residents and St. Peter's school students, and the result is truly special.
To bring this "Hands of Time" clock to life, we asked both generations the same questions about life, memories, and dreams. Because some of our residents find it difficult to open their hands, we made sure the project was inclusive for everyone by using these vibrant, pre-cut handprints so that every resident could participate comfortably.
What we discovered:
Childhood Dreams: One hand might say they wanted to be a "Farmer," while another says "Footballer."
Magical Inventions: Answers ranged from the "Hearing Aid" to the "Television."
Favorite Sounds: From "Birds" singing to "Other people laughing."
It has been a beautiful way to bridge the gap between the ages, sparking heartwarming conversations and a lot of smiles. The display is a colourful reminder that while times change, our need for connection is timeless.
A huge thank you to the students for their help. Please do stop by and have a read of these wonderful "hands" next time you visit! 🎨🕰️

✨ A Familiar Face in a New Role! ✨
We have some very exciting news to share today! Please join us in giving a huge "official" welcome to Nicky, who is joining our Social Engagement team!
Many of you will recognize Nicky—she’s been a beloved part of the family here for over 20 years. Having spent most of her career on our care team and more recently in housekeeping, she already knows our residents inside out. We are so lucky to have her experience and heart in this new role!
Nicky is stepping in for Louise, who is heading off to join the ambulance service. she’ll be staying with us as part of our bank staff, so you'll still see her around! 🚑❤️
Qwirkle Kings & Queens: This morning was all about strategy! The residents had a great time teaching Nicky how to play Qwirkle.
Film Club: We spent a lovely, relaxed afternoon watching the classic Mrs. Doubtfire. There’s nothing like a good laugh to bring everyone together. 🍿🎬
Welcome to the team, Nicky! We know you’re going to be amazing.
We also had a visit from Wilma, our therapy dog.

🇬🇧 Keeping the VE Day Celebrations Going! 🇬🇧
The fun didn’t stop this afternoon! We were joined by the wonderful Yvette for a superb Music and Movement session that kept our VE Day spirits high.
Yvette put on a truly joyous performance, playing all the wartime classics that had us all singing along and waving our flags with pride. It was the perfect way to cap off such a meaningful day—there were plenty of smiles, and lots of laughter.
Thank you, Yvette, for making our celebrations so special!

We had a wonderful time dressing up in our Union Jack colours to celebrate Victory in Europe Day today!
At midday, we fell silent for two minutes as we paused to remember the bravery and sacrifice of so many. We shared tea and incredible stories from the war years—it was truly moving to hear our residents' personal memories of such a historic time.
Lest we forget. ❤️

🎭 A Surprise Guest and a New Star! 🎭
We had a very entertaining visitor this afternoon! Tony dropped by to pitch his wonderful puppet show to us, and it’s safe to say he’s found his biggest fan already.
Maureen took a real liking to the puppets right away! She couldn’t resist getting stuck in and even had a go at being a ventriloquist herself. 🎤✨
While we might need to work a little bit on "throwing" the voice, Maureen certainly didn't lack any stage presence! It was such a treat to see her laughing and interacting with Tony’s colourful characters.
"You're never too old to play, and today Maureen proved exactly that!"

🌿 A Legend to Kick Things Off! 🌿
We had a wonderful afternoon today as we launched our brand-new Biography Club! 📖✨
To start things off on a high note, we delved into the incredible life of Sir David Attenborough. It felt only right to celebrate him, especially since he turns 100 years young this week! 🎂🐢
The session was a huge success—there was so much, storytelling, and "did you know?" moments as we looked back at his pioneering career and his love for the natural world.
"It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living." — Sir David Attenborough
I was so caught up in the great conversation that I completely forgot to snap a photo of the group! 🤦‍♂️📸 But rest assured, the room was full of smiles and everyone is already guessing who our next subject will be.

Celebrating our founder, Elizabeth Finn, on Founder’s Day and every day 💙

In 1897, at the age of 72, she began a mission to support those facing hardship, recognising how quickly financial stability could turn into poverty.

Her belief in dignity, compassion and care continues to inspire everything we do today, shaping our commitment to truly person-centred care. Over a century on, we are proud to continue in her footsteps, providing care with the same compassion and purpose that Elizabeth Finn began.

Sun, snacks, and a Hawkstone! ☀️🍺
Our residents had a brilliant time at The Farmer’s Dog this afternoon. From the famous Diddly Squat crisps to a cold pint of Hawkstone for the gents, everyone enjoyed a little taste of the farm life.
There’s nothing like a local outing to bring out the smiles!

🍷 Sunshine, Sips, and Seedlings! ☀️
What a glorious day it has been here at the home! We’ve spent every moment making the most of this beautiful weather out in our gardens.
Before lunch, we gathered in the courtyard for a little "Happy Hour" in the sun. There’s nothing quite like a chilled glass of wine and some good conversation to get the day going! It felt like being on holiday right here at home.
Green Thumbs at Work 🌱
This afternoon we headed to the Activities Garden for our gardening club. We spent a lovely few hours getting our hands in the soil:
Repotting our little seedlings to give them more room to grow.
