As a family-owned company with a long heritage of helping and supporting those who are experiencing bereavement, we understand that everyone is an individual. That’s why we focus on providing a truly personalised, caring and quality service and take pride in maintaining the highest of professional standards. In fact, we’ve been helping families with funeral arrangements for generations now, so no-

one understands better than us what a distressing and difficult time it can be for those left behind. The world around us may have altered dramatically since our earliest roots over 331 years ago, but what hasn’t changed is our commitment to being here every step of the way for the bereaved in our communities when they need us the most.

A small act. A real impact.

At Haine & Son, Polegate, we've been collecting used stamps to help raise funds for Canine Partners, a charity that trains dogs to support people with complex physical disabilities.

Thank you to everyone who’s contributed. Here’s what we’ve gathered so far 👀💜

The People Beside You: Meet Kerri

Senior Funeral Director — Constable & Toop, Belvedere and Forest Hill

Born and raised in South East London, Kerri has been part of CPJ Field for over 12 years. In that time she has worked her way up to Senior Funeral Director, a role she carries with calm, clarity and quiet confidence.

She’s known for her sharp sense of humour and her no-nonsense approach. A steady presence when things get complicated. A problem solver. And never far from a to-do list — which she loves to tick off.

Kerri insists there’s nothing unique about the way she leads a funeral.
But she takes care over the little touches — the details that help everything feel just right.

Outside of work, Kerri is happiest walking her bulldog, Moses.
Ideally by the sea.
And preferably when he behaves.

She loved animals.
So for her final journey,
Rui and Jackson led the way.

Pale pink plumes.
Matching ties.
Every detail chosen with care.

Thank you to Brunswick Carriage Company for helping us make her final journey feel meaningful and deeply remembered.

Because every life is unique.
And every goodbye should be, too.

July is Bereaved Parents
Awareness Month.

But for those who are grieving a child —
awareness isn’t just one month.
It’s every day.

Some carry the grief of a baby they never got to meet.
Others remember a toddler’s laugh,
a teenager’s song,
an adult child’s embrace.

There’s no timeline.
No “right” way to grieve.
No magic words.

But there is love.
Still here.
Still fierce.
Still aching.

To the parents holding invisible grief:
We see you.
We honour your pain.
And no one here will say it’s “been too long.

Because love doesn’t end.
And neither does remembrance.

If you’re finding things hard,
you don’t have to face it alone.

We care for those who have died —
and for the people who love them.

We’ve been collecting for the Bexhill & Battle Foodbanks Summer Picnic initiative — and let’s just say: Battle showed up.

From sandwich fillings to games for the kids (and everything in between), the people of this town gave big.

Shelagh, the lovely volunteer who came to collect it all, left with two heavy bags. Thank you for every single donation. 💜

Gingham, strawberries, sunshine. The small joys that bring people together.

Because life’s about moments. And sometimes, the simplest ones are the sweetest.

Quick.
Quiet.
No ceremony.
No goodbye.

Just... done.

But what's really being sold here?

Because death isn't tidy.
It's messy.
It's painful.
It's human.

Funeral aren't about fuss.
They're how we begin to make sense of death.
They hold space for love that doesn't know where to go.

We hear it all the time:
"We just want something simple."

And that's okay.

But simple doesn't mean silent.

It doesn't mean skipping the goodbye.
It doesn't mean pretending this doesn't hurt – because it does.

The funeral doesn't cause the pain.
The death does.

The funeral is where that pain get held.
Witnessed. Honoured.

No hymns? Fine.
No suits? Fine.
Pub, garden, front room – all good.

Make it yours.

We're not against direct cremation.
But it should be a choice – not a shortcut.
Not something sold as "easier".

Skip the spectacle, if you want.
But don't skip the meaning.

Love deserves more than a transaction.
It deserves a moment.
It deserves... even a little fuss.

Unexpected thank-yous are the best kind.
Especially when they come with chocolate chips.

We’re really touched. And a little bit full.

Big thanks to everyone who helped us raise £388.52 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People ! 🐾💜

In May, Jan and Leila organised a fantastic day filled with games, raffles, a tombola, and treats. We were also joined by two amazing volunteers and Mason, a gorgeous black Labrador hearing dog.

We recently had the pleasure of handing over the cheque, all thanks to your support! 👏

We were honoured to support Imberhorne School with a commemorative plaque for their new memorial garden. It’s a privilege to be part of a community that comes together in such a meaningful way 💜

This morning Imberhorne held the official opening of our memorial garden which represents our community and the compassion and togetherness within it. The beautiful willow tree that stands above the garden is symbolic of this as a place of both sanctuary and pride. The tree was adopted by our students and families after the tragic loss of Year 12 Oliver Shelley last summer and became a safe and binding space. It has taken on further resonance with the sad loss of Julie Foruria and others within our community.

Without support from our community this project would not have been possible, and we would like to thank the generous contributions and support from local groups and businesses who enabled us to create this focal point for remembrance:
● The East Grinstead Common Good Trust
● Travis Perkins, East Grinstead for their support in providing materials for the construction
● Ballard and Shortall, East Grinstead and Mr Schwarz who engraved our plaques
● EMS Design & Print
● Our community of parents and carers for their donations to support the space and for Meningitis Now
● Imberhorne Lane Nursery
