As a family-owned company with a long heritage of helping and supporting those who are experiencing bereavement, we understand that everyone is an individual. That’s why we focus on providing a truly personalised, caring and quality service and take pride in maintaining the highest of professional standards. In fact, we’ve been helping families with funeral arrangements for generations now, so no-one understands better than us what a distressing and difficult time it can be for those left behind. The world around us may have altered dramatically since our earliest roots over 331 years ago, but what hasn’t changed is our commitment to being here every step of the way for the bereaved in our communities when they need us the most.

💜🤝 We recently supported VINfest, an event organised by Howes the Florist

VINfest raises funds for two local organisations that have supported Hayley's son after he lost his sight this year: Animal Antiks and Oxfordshire Goalball.

Carol Pearson, from Heritage & Sons in Buckingham, and Emily Hendin, Co-CEO at CPJ Field, met with Hayley from Howes the Florist to hand over a prize for the event.

A fitting tribute to a man who spent as much time as possible in the outdoors and on his bike…
‘May your final ride be easy, and the road stretch far and wide. May each bend feel like a gentle curve, ‘til the horizon meets the sky. May the rush of the wind whisper in your ear, and the sun glint in your eye. May you ride along this road with grace, as the sun sets, and falls from the sky.’

These women filled 5 million shrapnel shells during World War One.

At Site 39. Right here in Horley.

On Saturday, the Horley History Society unveiled a blue plaque at the Archway Theatre to mark their work.

We were pleased to support the project. Nicola attended on behalf of Ballard & Shortall.

Some stories deserve to be remembered.

The road was his life. Every early start, every long haul, every mile behind that wheel.

So when the time came to say goodbye, his family knew what was needed.

Not a traditional hearse. His lorry.

One final journey through the town he knew so well.

This wasn’t just a funeral.

It was him.

Because every life is unique.

Blue and red. South London and proud. A Crystal Palace scarf draped across the coffin.

For someone whose passion was written in club colours, this funeral honoured that completely.

The Order of Service carried the Palace border. The eulogy spoke about what those colours meant to him. During the service, there was a flag wave.

The ashes arrive.
"What now?"

Some people scatter them in places that mattered.
Some bury them and plant something above.
Some keep them close.

And some need something they can hold.

A ring. A bracelet. A pendant.
A small amount of ash set in resin.
Something you can wear.

It's not for everyone.
But for some people, it's everything.

For years, Bobbie safeguarded children.

Protected them. Spoke for them when they couldn't speak for themselves.

As a funeral arranger, she spent days with families. Learning who they were. Planning what should happen.

She wanted to be there for all of it.

Colleagues told her she should train as a funeral director. They saw it before she did.

So in February, she became one.

Now she walks families from the first phone call to the final goodbye.

She knows what families are handing over.

Their person. Their trust.

Bobbie Bittles.
Funeral Director, East Grinstead.

First children. Now the dead.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Sunday as we opened our doors for Remembrance Sunday.

It was a true family affair. Anastasia, our funeral director at Cooper & Son, Lewes, was joined by her daughter and William, the funeral home mascot.

With your support, we raised £400 for the Royal British Legion.
