Pure Balance Physio & Pilates : Nikki Laing Hands on Physio and exercise prescription with Clinical Pilates Rehab and Classes The classes are run in 6 week courses.

Classes run by Qualified Physiotherapists trained in Clinical Pilates Instruction. Classes are small and run by 2 instructors in classes with 11 clients or 1 instructor with a class of 5. Classes are aimed at clients suffering from back pain, recovering from back pain or surgery or any other medical problems. We are also happy for non-suffers to join the classes.

Whether you are struggling with a frozen shoulder, chronic back pain, neurological conditions, a sports injury or any other musculoskeletal condition, the Pilates principles can benefit you all.

Underpinning the exercises I prescribe for clients are these 8 principles whether we are doing specific Pilates rehab or any other Physio led exercises.

Hi… I’m Nikki, founder and owner of Pure Balance Physio and Pilates.

I qualified in 2001 as a Physiotherapist and following 6 years in the NHS, moved purely to private practice treating Musculoskeletal-skeletal conditions in 2007. More recently in 2023 I set up Pure Balance Physio and Pilates treating patients from my home clinic in Burgess Hill.

I qualified as a clinical Pilates Instructor in 2005 and have been running clinical Pilates Matwork classes and 1:1 Pilates in Mid Sussex since then.

I have a keen interest in supporting clients to maintain and improve their general fitness alongside assisting in their rehabilitation of injuries and management of chronic or acute pain conditions.

When you stop moving, the body doesn’t freeze in time, it slowly gives up capacity. Muscles shrink, tendons stiffen, joints lose range, balance fades. It doesn’t happen overnight, it happens quietly… in the space between “I’ll rest today” and “I can’t do that anymore.”

Most people call that aging.
But a lot of it is just inactivity.

Movement does the opposite. It teaches the body how to handle force, how to absorb impact, how to stay stable, how to get up from the floor, how to lift, carry, twist, jump, and land. It strengthens bone. It trains connective tissue. It rewires balance. It builds resilience.

Not just physical resilience but also mental resilience.
Choose the thing that builds you not the thing that shrinks you.

Big Shout out to the wonderful Mr Laing this morning who lovingly cleared the clinic drive and pathway so the paths are safe for clients this morning. 🥰

If you are heading out on foot, do check your soles and opt for shoes with thick treads to reduce your risk of slipping or falling.

I hope that you can enjoy some of this beautiful sunshine ☀️ and scenery amongst the cold 🥶 even if it’s just sitting by a sunny window.

It may have been an early one (8.30am) but it set us all up for the day in a positive way and the sun shone through the windows brightening our day🧘🏻‍♀️.

🥰It has been wonderful to see new clients join our Pilates family and progress with strength, flexibility and movement confidence and to see those who have been with us a while take on new challenges, maintain their fitness and continue to believe in their bodies.

🥰Feeling blessed and very thankful for my wonderful client’s feedback, showing the power of Pilates and movement. The weekly Pilates class recording helps you work in your own home even when you can't get to a class. A lovely email I received last week.

"Hi Nikki

Thought you might like this - I’m just back from 2 weeks hols and got a rotten cold at the end of it.

Anyway, yesterday I decided I really needed to do pilates and go gently just to give my poor body a break after being in bed for a few days. So, I duly hoovered the room, laid out the mat, got my therabands, weights and even rubbed out my feet on a spiky ball (by which point I was knackered!). Turn on lesson and you said ’starting on a chair’. I groaned and got a chair - but do you know what, it was just what I needed, standing would have been too much, I ended up being very grateful. I managed the complete class and went back to bed, so much less stiff and so grateful I did bother.

So thank you - you may not always see it, but yes the classes are brilliant as ever.
