It is with deep sadness that we learn of the passing of Professor Douglas Chamberlain. Douglas has been an immense inspiration and steadfast supporter throughout my professional journey. His contributions have touched the lives of countless individuals.

In the fields of cardiac care and the development of paramedicine, he has had a profound impact. I am grateful for his support and candid guidance, which have shaped many aspects of our work. It has truly been a privilege and a blessing to have known him and to have been part of the community resuscitation efforts and advancements he helped pioneer.

Rest in peace, Professor Chamberlain. We remain committed to continuing the vital work and foundational principles you established, honoring your legacy in our ongoing efforts.

Great day networking at the Burgess Hill business show today. Delivered two sessions on BLS/AED within the community and then interviewed on Sussex Mid Radio.

Had the pleasure of attending the Fist Aid Facilitators Forum today to present on, “The history of CPR - compressions and rescue breaths. Why do 999 instruct continuous
compressions and how do we explain this conflicting information to our delegates”.

The incredible work from Professor Douglas Chamberlain and David Fletcher, one of the UK’s first Paramedics has had an incredible impact on the way we now manage out of hospital cardiac arrest.

Their work has been so inspirational and today I had the opportunity to talk about how we benefit from the great teachers.

GoodSAM is the UK's national cardiac arrest alerting system. It has been shown that a GoodSAM response is linked to double the increase in the chance of survival (odds ratio 3:1). By increasing training and responder density, we can bring this increased survival to even more people.

This has lead to a fantastic partnership with the Resuscitation Council UK. By completing their Lifesaver training, it is possible for anyone to be a GoodSAM responder.
