A highlight for a small group of six residents this week was a trip to Sanders Gardenworld. They were very impressed with their mode of transport as Chris our Manager took them! They were accompanied by Tanya, Cher & Judy & residents thoroughly enjoyed looking at the new festive displays and partook in refreshments in the café. We hope to repeat this trip with other residents – what a great way to spend the afternoon!

🎃Crafternoons with Cher offer a variety of activities. One such recent session included card making, some colouring, knitting, chatting & making wool pumpkins which had been wrapped around balloons. You’ll see an inspiration picture for reference... The task required painting PVA glue onto a balloon, wrapping wool around it and then when dry the balloon is popped leaving a structure… We left our “pumpkins” to dry in the sun and it seems that the balloons deflated first so our attempts didn’t go quite to plan.

Everyone has had a chuckle about it and we will try again and decided that our attempts were actually kind of funky 😉 Much fun was had anyway!

We hope you like this series of photos depicting one of lovely residents partaking in a craft activity recently. Colouring was on offer and as you can see Phyl wasn’t particularly keen but Cher then offered her the opportunity to try painting the picture instead. We were so impressed with the detail – just look at the cat with the lovely green eyes! Well done Phyl and what a great sense of achievement. It just goes to show that a little bit of encouragement can go a long way...

We welcomed a new performer to Tudor Lodge recently. Graham has recently returned to the area and residents and staff alike enjoyed his renditions of “Love is all around” by The Troggs (or Wet Wet Wet if you are more into the 90’s music😉), “Country Rose & Annie’s Song” by John Denver, “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond, “Bridge over Troubled Waters” by Simon & Garfunkel, “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers, “Sailing” by Rod Stewart and many more.

Graham left with a room full of happy residents and more bookings in his diary. Thank you for joining us 🎶🎼🎵

The last Monday of the month is our time to have a pub night. Residents have a fish and chip supper and are able to make their selection from our drinks trolley hosted by Tanya – it looks like Baileys was a popular choice! It was also an opportunity to present Geraldine with the trophy and some prizes for winning our monthly challenge with points won for winning quizzes, darts games and more – well done Geraldine. We hope everyone enjoyed their evening.

Our residents have had a lovely afternoon with Julie yesterday. They started by playing Lexicon and then had a quiz in the Lounge followed by some music. We are so lucky that Julie comes to us as she utilises her other skills which include being a dance teacher. Many of our residents have fond memories of dancing in their younger years including monthly visits to the Winter Gardens in Weston! You can see the sheer joy that music and dancing brings to our residents – we may have joined them in a twisting dance as well 😉
