Needing an ultrasound scan for Ankle Impingement?

Ankle impingement involves entrapment of structures in the ankle joint leading to pain, limited range of motion, and significant functional limitations, particularly in athletes. Early recognition of symptoms and appropriate diagnosis through clinical examination and imaging techniques are crucial for effective management of ankle impingement!

Ultrasound is a useful, non-invasive tool for diagnosing ankle impingement. It allows real-time imaging of soft tissues, detects thickened ligaments, joint effusions, or synovitis, and can guide injections. While it’s less effective for bony detail, it’s excellent for dynamic assessment during ankle movement!
