Today's post is different from my usual posts.
We instructors are givers. We motivate, enhance people's self-esteem, basically, help others to become the best version of themselves. As we give so much energy away we need to give back ourselves too otherwise we might burn out.
I found a great way to recharge my psyche and that is Breathe and Meditate. After so many years of teaching I find myself in a different phase of my life when I'm going through hormonal changes and these changes affect my sleep, mood even my energy levels and I needed to slow down!!!!
As I began my practice this Tuesday with Julie and I started focusing on chanting and breathing something unexpected happened.
I SUDDENLY FELT INCREDIBLY CALM!!!!!
MEDITATION AND BREATHWORK Activate THE BODY'S RELAXATION RESPONSE, which helps lower the stress hormones and potentially leads to a greater sense of calm and peace. THIS IS HOW I FELT! IT WAS AMAZING 💕💕💕💕💕
I also felt more EMPATHETIC AND Compassionate towards myself. Breathing & Meditation increases the activity of the PARASYMPATHETIC nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation. I felt more focused, my thoughts were more organised and structured after the class. I told myself, "I could do this every day, this is a great stress management technique."
This class is led by Julie Smith who trained in yoga with the British Wheel of yoga. She completed a 500 hour diploma course that covered all aspects of yoga, including pranayama and meditation. Her voice is like the voice of an angel it had such a calming impact on me.
Needless to say, the class is highly recommended.
You will find her at Vanessa Flow Yoga Studio on Tuesday from 11:15 am to 12 am.
