My career in podiatry began in 2012 when I became a founding member of a successful private podiatry business in the south of England. I qualified in 2017 from the University of Brighton, where I received a 1st class degree in Podiatry. I came to work for the NHS Podiatry Dept. in Burnley in early 2018 and worked in clinics across the area including Padiham and Burnley. I am experienced in all asp
ects of podiatric care including nail surgery and biomechanics as well as routine care such as nail cutting. I started my private podiatry business in 2021 and now have private patients spanning Colne to Padiham. I am comfortable treating all age groups, however most of my work is with the older members of our community. Favourite Aspects of Podiatry
Nail Surgery:
In-growing toenails can affect anyone at any age; however, the vast majority are seen in young people of school age or early 20’s. Causes can be hereditary, inappropriate footwear, contact sports and work related. Some in-growing toenails are worse than others and will require minor surgery to remove the offending nail and prevent regrowth. Podiatrists are trained at length to do this procedure and use a chemical at the nail bed to help prevent regrowth. In my career so far, I have conducted hundreds of nail surgeries on all age groups down to approx. 12 years old, sometimes younger depending on the severity. Podiatric Care for Older Members of our Community:
Working to help older people in my community is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. The work is usually varied as mobility and age affect the feet in many ways. It’s not just the work though. This sector of our community are incredibly interesting people, with vast knowledge and experience. To spend my days in their company, helping them, talking to them and hearing their stories is priceless.
