You don’t need a 12 step nervous system regulation practice

You need to stop treating joy like it’s something you have to earn 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nervous system regulation isn’t just cold plunges, meditation apps and forcing yourself to journal when you’re already overwhelmed. In fact cold plunges and a nervous system stuck in survival mode is more harmful.

Sometimes it’s:

✨ Singing at the top of your lungs to your favourite song because vibration stimulates the vagus nerve and tells your body you’re safe

✨ Humming while you make a brew because the sound creates calming parasympathetic activation

✨ Dancing around your kitchen and shaking your hips because trauma and stress get stored in the body through tension and stillness

✨ Laughing until you snort

✨ Sitting in the sun for 10 minutes

✨ Texting the friend who feels like home

✨ Watching the sunset instead of another self-help video

✨ Letting yourself feel ALIVE instead of constantly trying to “fix” yourself

Our nervous system doesn’t heal through punishment.
It heals through safety.
Through presence.
Through moments your body can finally exhale in.

Maybe regulation isn’t another thing to add to your to-do list…
Maybe it’s remembering you’re allowed to enjoy being here. 🫶🏼

Sick of feeling completely overwhelmed ?
Like you’re just getting through the days on autopilot?
Like you can’t even remember the last time you actually felt…relaxed?

Then breathwork is for you.

I’m talking about conscious connected breathing — simple, powerful, and straight to the point.

Because here’s the thing.
You don’t just think stress… you store it.

In your body.
Your chest.
Your gut.
Your jaw.

And no amount of overthinking, analysing or “figuring it out” shifts it — because it’s not just in your head!!

Breathwork drops you out of the chaos upstairs and back into your body, where all of that built-up emotion, unsaid words and unfelt feelings live.

And when you breathe in a connected, intentional way, your nervous system starts to regulate.
Your body feels safe enough to let go.

And the best bit.

There’s no need to analyse it.
No need to pick it apart.
No need to relive every story.

You just breathe… and your body does what it’s designed to do — release.

It’s simple.
It’s powerful.
And it works.

If you’re ready to stop carrying it all…

As a single mum of two, with a business to run and the universe throwing all kinds of stuff at me (I’m sure I needed it, just haven’t figured out all the lessons) I was permanently chasing my tail.

Keeping all the plates spinning AND ‘making it look easy’ with a disc bulge that needed surgery too… but here’s the thing.

Just because it LOOKS easy , doesn’t mean that it is .
In fact, I’ll vouch for ANYONE who makes it look easy.

IT’S NOT.

And once I realised we were never meant to do it all alone . That we’ve been sold independence, strength and happiness wrapped up in a sure fire map to burnout, then life started feeling so much easier .

You’re not lazy. You’re dysregulated!!!

Wait what?
But ask yourself, do you actually lack motivation…
Or are you just completely frazzled?

Tired but wired.
Snappy.
Can’t switch off, no matter how hard you try.

That’s not laziness.
That’s your nervous system stuck in survival mode.

And your body keeps the score.

Breathwork helps switch that off… fast.
No overthinking, no dissecting , just breath.

Comment BREATHWORK and I’ll add you to the waitlist.

I offer 1:1 , Group and online sessions . You don’t have to hold it anymore 🫶🏼🩷

Anyone else ??

Chronic stress causes the diaphragm to tighten, making deep breathing harder.

Take a deep breath in through your nose .

Notice, does it feel easy to fill your whole space?
Belly, chest, into your back?

Or does it feel like there’s a blocker ?

Breathe in as deep as you can and when you feel ‘full’ exhale through your mouth.

Make it longer than the inhale .

When you take another deep breath in. Notice.
Do you have more space to breathe into?

Do as many as you need . Two or three is never enough.

What did you notice ?

I used to think I was just “stressed”…
Like… that was the whole explanation.

But no one tells us this part —

Stress doesn’t just sit in your head.
It lives in your body.

In your clenched jaw.
Tight shoulders.
That constant knot in your stomach.
That heavy feeling in your chest you can’t quite explain.

It’s not random.
That’s stored stress.
Unprocessed. Unreleased.

This is what people mean when they say the body keeps the score.”

And here’s the thing…

You don’t clear that by overthinking it.
Or talking it to death.

You clear it through the body.

Through the nervous system.
Through the breath.

Conscious connected breathwork (circular breathing) is one of the fastest ways to release stored stress, regulate your nervous system, and finally feel like you can exhale properly.

Less bracing.
More space.

If you’ve been feeling:
– anxious for “no reason”
– constantly on edge
– tight, tense, wired but exhausted

Your body isn’t broken. It’s holding.

Comment BREATHWORK if you want to experience it for yourself.
I offer 1:1, group and online sessions.

Stop stretching your hips for a second.

I mean it ✋🏽 🛑

If your hips feel tight… it’s probably not because they need more stretching —
it’s because they don’t feel safe enough to let go.

Your body isn’t stupid.
It holds for a reason.

Stress.
Emotions you had to suppress.
Patterns you learnt to survive.

And some of it?
Was never even yours to begin with.

You’ve inherited nervous system patterns that say:
“stay small”
“stay quiet”
“don’t feel too much”

So your hips hold it all.

Stretching might give you a moment of relief…
but shaking is a game changer.

That’s how the body releases.

That’s how you tell your system in a way it UNDERSTANDS
“we’re safe now”

Try it before you scroll off.
Just 30 seconds. Let your hips move.

It might feel weird… Just start shaking and trust your body. Breathe intentionally and let your body guide you in pace, rhythm and intensity.

My go to is a banger from the 2003 album in my kitchen, whilst cooking!
As a mum of two with a business and minimal down time, I shoehorn this into my day into the most normal activities and I’m just over here dropping it’s like it’s hot.

Save this for later 🤍 And let me know how it felt in the comments 👇🏽

And here’s the bit no one talks about enough…
some of what you’re holding… isn’t even yours!!

Ancestral trauma gets passed down too. Brilliant ! 🤦🏼‍♀️
Through patterns, through biology. Through nervous system wiring.
So your hips?
They can carry generations of “stay quiet”, “be small”, “don’t feel that”.

We’ve been sold stretching for tension.
But hips aren’t just “tight”… they’re holding.

In your hips lives your fight, your flight, your freeze…
and especially your fawn.
It’s your body’s storage unit for all the things you didn’t feel safe enough to process at the time. Now ask yourself , how many situations you’ve been in where you’ve stayed quiet, felt uncomfortable, even scared. Those sensations never got to leave. They’re still in your body. In your hips.

So when you just stretch?
You’re trying to lengthen something that’s actually protecting you. Is braced.

Shaking is different.
Shaking tells your nervous system:
“it’s safe now… you can let go.”

It’s primal.
Animals do it naturally after stress.
We were never meant to override it… we were meant to move it through.

Remember being told ‘shake it off?’

Stretching might give relief.
But shaking?
That’s release.

Put some music on.
Loosen your jaw.
Let your hips move in a way that feels a bit wild, a bit messy, a bit uncontrolled. Go with what FEELS good.

Save this for when you feel heavy in your hips 🤍 and follow for more self led nervous system regulation, somatic movements and Traditional Chinese therapies

I’m not your love and light earth mother. More of a ‘hell no, we’re not having that’.

When I say ‘heal’ I mean be around other like minded women. Social media and Covid has created a huge disconnect in society. We NEED eachother. Connection is key !!
