🌈 The Magic of Sensory Rooms in Early Development 🌈
Sensory rooms aren’t just calming spaces — they’re powerful tools that support children’s growth in ways that feel natural, playful, and joyful. The Sensory Room at Charter House Resource Centre is the perfect environment for exploring, learning, and building essential skills that shape early development.
✨ Why sensory rooms matter:
- Boosts brain development: Sensory play strengthens neural pathways, helping children process the world around them with confidence.
- Encourages communication: Whether through sounds, textures, or lights, sensory experiences spark curiosity and interaction.
- Supports emotional regulation: Gentle lighting, soothing sounds, and safe exploration help children learn to manage big feelings.
- Builds motor skills: Reaching, balancing, touching, and moving all contribute to stronger fine and gross motor development.
- Inclusive for all abilities: Sensory rooms offer a supportive environment where every child can thrive at their own pace.
For many families, these spaces become a sanctuary — a place where children can explore freely, feel calm, and discover new ways to connect with themselves and others.

👋🏻 Meet Tia 👋🏻
Say hello to Tia, another participant in our Christal Clear Hydro project, generously funded by Community Foundation for Lancashire 💚
Tia is a wonderful, energetic little girl who loves spending time in water! 🌊 Due to Tia's ongoing medical condition, she has experienced some physical and developmental delays, which means she is just now learning to walk at 6 years old.
When Tia was a baby, she experienced hundreds of seizure a day - her condition is now managed by a strict medical ketogenic diet which has helped her become completely seizure-free for the last 4 years 🥳
Through the Christal Clear Hydro project, Tia will receive 6 fully-funded Hydrotherapy Pool sessions to aid in her physical development, allowing her to build muscle and strength in a safe environment. 🌊
If you would like to keep updated on Tia's hydro journey, make sure to keep an eye on our page! 👀 You can also help by interacting with this post and spreading the word about the Christal Clear Hydro project at Charter House 💚

Our Big Build...
For over 12 months we have been working closely with Lancashire county council to secure the use of Brunshaw Youth Club, through Lancashire county councils asset transfer service, this allows Charter House to take ownership of a building, to provide and extend our services for at least the next 125 years.
On taking ownership of the premises, Charter House will invest over £50,000 within the next 12 months, making alterations to the new building to maintain our level of service, creating a large new sensory room and a larger activity area providing more services.
We have been working alongside “The Big Issue investment”, “The Reach Fund” and are also awaiting a lottery grant.
We estimate that the move will take no longer than 2-4 months, we assure our members that our services will continue with no disruption to the day to day activities.
We will keep you up-to-date with any developments as soon as we are aware of any news.
