Update on Prescribing of Mounjaro® in Primary Care

We are aware of recent announcements in the media suggesting that weight loss medications are now available from GPs. We understand that this may have prompted interest and questions from patients seeking support with weight management.

At this time, GP practices in Lancashire and South Cumbria have not yet received confirmation or commissioning to prescribe these medications. We are currently awaiting official guidance and commissioning updates from local NHS authorities regarding how and when this service might be provided.

We would like to reassure you that we will share further information as soon as it becomes available. If our practice is commissioned to deliver this service, we will offer appropriate appointments to eligible patients who meet the clinical criteria.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please do NOT book appointments to discuss this as our clinicians will not be able to prescribe.

Any queries can be directed to the ICB patient experience team:

Cervical Cancer Awareness Week, 22nd – 28th January

It’s really important to attend your cervical screening when you receive your invitation. This test checks for a virus called human papillomavirus (HPV), and catching this early can help reduce the risk of cervical cancer developing.
https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cervical-cancer/getting-diagnosed/screening/about

Cervical screening is free for anyone with a cervix, between the ages of 25-64. It’s not a test for cancer, but detects a virus called human papillomavirus (HPV). High-risk HPV may cause cellular changes which could develop into cancer over time, although not all cell changes will cause cancer. Regular screening is essential to catch any changes quickly. https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cervical-cancer/getting-diagnosed/screening/about

Some people can be anxious about having a cervical screening test. It can be helpful to know what to expect when you come for your appointment. Book with our nurse.
