When everything feels too much, our nervous system naturally moves into protection mode. Thoughts might race, even small tasks can feel impossible.
In person-centred therapy, we don’t rush to fix that. We begin by understanding by sitting with it & gently exploring. When it feels right — gradually shifting from
“This is too much”
to “What feels possible right now?”
Not to minimise the struggle.
Not to force productivity.
But to help create just a little steadiness.

We don’t often see people openly talking about the grief that comes with losing a pet.
When a beloved animal dies, the pain can be incredibly deep — yet it’s something many people feel they should carry quietly. But they weren’t just a dog, or just a cat. They were part of the family. Part of your daily routine. A constant source of comfort, companionship and unconditional love.
The bond we share with our pets is real and meaningful. They’re there through the ordinary days and the hardest moments. When they’re gone, the silence and absence can feel overwhelming.
Grief after losing a pet is valid. It matters. And it deserves space.
I feel strongly that this kind of loss is just as important as any other bereavement. Therapy can offer a safe, compassionate space to process the sadness, guilt, anger, or emptiness that can follow. You don’t have to minimise your pain, and you don’t have to go through it alone.

SILENCE & PRESENCE 💫🫶✨️In person centred therapy there can often be moments or periods of silence. This may sound like it could feel uncomfortable and that's OK, but silence can also feel quite profound;- and the pause sometimes brings a sense of calm or clarity. This next passage also magnifies silence as beautiful and how dogs remind us:- That we often look for solutions to the challenges life throws our way, but sometimes the greatest comfort is simply not being alone. Our dogs possess a quiet wisdom that allows them to witness our struggles without judgment or the need to fix anything. Their silent presence provides a safe space for us to process our emotions and find the strength to keep going. Like counsellors, dogs are companions who understand that just being there is more than enough. 💫🫶✨️
