A Dunfermline musician has achieved a landmark moment as Jacob Alon has been nominated for the 2025 Mercury Prize for his debut folk album, In Limerence. This prestigious shortlist celebrates the most outstanding albums from the UK and Ireland’s vibrant music scene each year, placing Jacob alongside beloved acts like Wolf Alice, Pulp, and Fontaines D.C..

Jacob’s nomination is a huge boost for Dunfermline’s creative community—his heartfelt songwriting and captivating live performances have won fans locally and far beyond. The Mercury Prize ceremony takes place on October 16th at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena, where Jacob performs alongside fellow nominees in front of a national audience.

Let’s show our support and share pride in seeing a Dunfermline artist earn one of the big honours in British music. Good luck Jacob—our city is behind you all the way! ❤️

A few of you asked for the poem I read out at last weeks self-care Sunday. It’s a beaut isn’t it?it asks if we can stay true to ourselves, and when we do, we can face both the joys and struggles, showing up for ourselves first. Only then can we truly show up for others.

Today, I’m asking: Can I face my fears honestly, without distractions? Have I worked enough on myself to stand strong, before asking others to share their lives with me? What about you?

The theme of our next Self-care Sunday is Still Waters: Cultivating Inner Peace and Clarity

We’ll embrace stillness and cultivate a sense of calm with our Still Waters practice. Inspired by the quiet depth of water, this session is all about finding serenity within. Just like the surface of a lake can reflect clear skies when undisturbed, our minds and bodies can also find clarity when we allow ourselves the space to pause.

Through gentle, flowing movements and mindful breathwork, we’ll release tension and quiet the mental chatter that often follows us into the weekend. This practice will be slower-paced, focusing on deep stretches and meditative poses that invite you to tune inwards.

We’ll also explore techniques for calming the nervous system, like cooling breathwork and a soothing body scan, so you can walk away feeling refreshed and centered. Think of it as a moment of reflection and peace, a chance to reset before the week ahead.

Morning our next Self-care Sunday yoga workshop is on Sunday April 13th. Join us to for a super relaxing and calming 90 minutes - we'll do some grounding yoga, mindful breathwork, and meditation, to help us release stress, restore balance, and find peace. Treat yourself to some time to really look after yourself.

Time: 1pm or 3pm
Location: Breathe Yoga, Pilates & Wellness in Dunfermline and Fife
