This month marked World Cerebral Palsy Day, and a moment to shine a light on the millions of people who live with the condition every day.

Here is Esi, one of our valued customers, who shares her experience living with cerebral palsy and the challenges of societal perceptions and language. She reminds us that it's not our disabilities that define us, but how we let others’ attitudes shape our self-worth.

Thank you, Esi, for sharing your story and inspiring us all. 🙌

Tea and Talk for World Mental Health Day ☕🌍

This week our Support Office team came together to mark World Mental Health Day with a Tea and Talk session to start conversations and share experiences, including how we manage our mental wellbeing. From helpful tips to personal insights, it was an afternoon full of valuable conversations and support. 💜

Sometimes, all it takes is a cuppa and a chat to spark important conversations – and to start making a difference.

Mental health matters, and it affects us all. Today marks World Mental Health Day and World Inclusion Day, we’re standing for empathy, understanding, and inclusion.

Because living well isn’t just about physical health; it’s about feeling connected, supported, and valued in the communities we love.

With a little patience, kindness, and compassion, we can all make a difference. 💙 Let’s keep the conversation going: It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to not be okay.

Today, we celebrate the strength and individuality of people living with Cerebral Palsy, a condition that affects movement, walking and communication.

We’re proud to support Penny and Esi, two remarkable individuals who live with CP and continue to thrive in the homes and communities they love. Their stories remind us that with the right support, people can live well, independently, and with purpose.

Their message is clear: Don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do. 💜

Let’s stand together to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and celebrate the power of inclusion.

💜TEAM TUESDAY this time one of our long-standing members of the team Courtney!💜
HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED IN CARE? I’ve worked in care for 7 years. I started caring for my disabled auntie and as soon as I turned 18 I realised I wanted to go further into the caring profession and help others.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF YOUR JOB?
I love making a difference to people’s lives wherever that’s sitting chatting to them, making them a cup of tea or helping them with general tasks that they may not be able to do themselves or feel a burden to ask for help.

WHAT’S ONE WORD THAT DESCRIBES YOU?
Organised.

TEA OR COFFEE? ☕🍵
Tea but prefer hot chocolate!

FAVOURITE SONG TO START THE DAY? 🎶
Any JLS song!! Or ordinary by Alex Warren.

YOUR GO-TO COMFORT FOOD? 🍕🍫
Chocolate.

IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPERPOWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE? 🦸
Be able to see into the future.

ONE FUN FACT ABOUT YOU? 🤩
I have a tattoo addiction and I am covered and still have more to get.

DREAM HOLIDAY DESTINATION? 🌍✈️
Disneyland Paris and Disneyworld Florida.

WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN CARE? ❤️
I love putting a smile on peoples’s faces as they might not see anyone else in that day. I love making them feel better in themselves such as reassuring them if they feel scared or worried. It makes me feel like I’ve done my job right, especially with helping with personal care as I know they are looking lovely for the day. Even going to the shop for someone could make a massive difference to their days if no one else can go for them and they are unable to go independently.

As a live-in carer, Rita finds meaning in every day. Here’s how her journey began:

🗣 “It was a combination of personal fulfilment and to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Meeting different people from all walks of life and listening to their stories. Everyone has a unique story and experience to share.”

Each day is different, although some activities may be the same:
🗣 “Supporting daily living activities... Preparing meals, housekeeping, administering medication, and any other duties... it gives me the opportunity to build a relationship with them and in turn I get job satisfaction.”

💬 “I was very excited about joining the company, the training that they offer us as carers has been very effective in developing my skills and knowledge.”

Thank you, Rita, for sharing your journey 💜
