Christmas is a time for food, drinks, late nights and big emotions.
But it’s also a time when our hearts can be under a little more strain.
Research has shown that the risk of heart attack increases over the Christmas and New Year period, with the highest risk on Christmas Eve. In the UK, organisations like & have shared this data to encourage some gentle awareness.
The good news?
Small, thoughtful actions can genuinely make a difference.
This Christmas, a few tips:
🎄 Drink water between alcoholic drinks
🎄 Go a little lighter on salty foods
🎄 Keep some gentle movement in your day
🎄 Check in on friends and family, especially older relatives
If someone feels chest pain, unusual breathlessness, nausea, sweating, or just “not right”, trust your instincts and get help. You won’t be “ruining Christmas”; you could be saving a life.
Looking after each other is one of the most important gifts we can give 💜🎁
