Did you know it’s National Day of Unplugging?

From sundown tonight to sundown tomorrow, the invitation is to step away from phones, emails and constant digital noise for 24 hours.

For many of us that may not be realistic, but it can still be a helpful reminder to notice how often we stay “on”.

What might it look like to unplug a little more than usual?

We’ve shared a few thoughts and gentle reflection n the slides, for you if you do feel curious to try it.

If you do take a little time away from your phone, we’d love to hear, what did you notice?

Arms open.
Blue sky above.
Sunshine beaming down.

These past few days have felt a little different haven’t they: Waking up to the sound of the birds, feeling the warmth beginning to return, maybe even allowing ourselves to soak it up just that little bit longer after such a run of those dull, wet days.

Just letting it land!

There’s something deeply soulful about allowing joy without questioning if you’ve earned it.
About receiving the light without attaching productivity.

Maybe that’s the shift this season is bringing:
less proving, more being.

How have these brighter days made you feel?
Pop one word in the comments, we’d love to know 🧡

There is something quietly confronting about stepping away. Perhaps that’s why we don’t often do it? It’s much easier to just keep going, right?

This weekend, for 24 hours, I allowed myself to press pause for a little longer.
No one needed me.
No teaching.
No holding.

I read.
I rested.
I slept.
And somewhere in the quiet, my shoulders dropped.
A sigh escaped that I didn’t realise I was holding.

Recently I’ve been much more aware of how often I am “on.”
And how many of those who join us for practice are too.
Always needed.
Always responsible.
Always one step ahead.

Taking time out can feel indulgent, even guilty.
But what if it’s maintenance — not a luxury?

I know 24 hours away isn’t realistic for everyone (it certainly isn’t for me a lot of the time).
But perhaps just 10 minutes, a single class, or an afternoon, just for you!

So maybe you can let this be your permission slip to pause.
You matter too! And you are allowed to put yourself first in all of this.

❤️

There’s a quiet pressure at this time of year…

To be ready.
To feel energised.
To step forward.

Even though winter hasn’t quite finished yet!

But our nervous systems don’t move with the calendar. Sometimes they need space to transition.
A pause.
A slower breath.
A moment to ask, “What do I actually need right now?”

If that question feels unfamiliar, that’s usually a sign you’ve been giving a lot.

Root to Rise was created as that pause.
A full day in the beautiful grounds of Calke Abbey to:
– Move what feels heavy
– Clear what feels stuck
– Breathe properly
– Reset your nervous system before the season shifts

No pressure, just space to arrive back to yourself.

If you feel drawn to this day, I’d love to hold that space for you.

You can secure your spot via the link in my bio, or just drop me a message if you want to chat about it.

And if a full day isn’t possible right now, try this today:
Step outside for five minutes. No phone. Just notice your breath and what feels heavy. You don’t need to fix it, simple acknowledge it

So many people think yoga & Pilates is about being flexible, calm, or already fit. That you need more time, more discipline, and less chaos in your life.

But what if it was never about that?
What if it was simply about giving your nervous system a moment to soften?

With us, it isn’t about performing.
It isn’t about pushing.
And it definitely isn’t about being “good enough.”

It’s about exhaling, unclenching your jaw and letting your shoulders drop.

Remembering you’re allowed to take up space too.

If you’ve ever told yourself, “I’ll start when life calms down”, this is your reminder that it doesn’t have to calm down first 🧡 (the calm usually follows naturally once you start 😉)

What surprised you most once you actually came to class?

We’d love to hear.

What about gently letting go — the little pressures, habits, and thoughts that weigh us down?

Take a pause to notice them, and release what no longer serves you.

What’s one thing you might let go of this season? 🧡

We’d love to know which one from the ones we’ve shared resonate the most? 1, 2 or 3?

A beautiful spot the other day: bright colour against the constant grey we’ve been having lately.

Every year, daffodils feel like a quiet reassurance, don’t they?
That the seasons are turning.
That lighter mornings and softer evenings are on their way.
That renewal doesn’t rush… it simply unfolds.

I was listening to an episode of Begin Again with this week where they spoke about “glimmers” — those small, everyday moments that gently lift us when we notice them.

Not grand gestures.
Just subtle moments.
A hot cup of tea in quiet.
A patch of blue sky after days of grey.
A shared smile across the street.
A breath that softens your shoulders.

Yesterday, we shared daffodils in our classes for Random Acts of Kindness Day — a small offering, a reminder of love, light and hope.

Maybe today this is your reminder to look for your glimmer.

What has lifted you, even slightly, this week? 🌼

Happy Chinese New Year ✨

Let’s be honest, there’s lot of noise right now about “doing it right”: the first 72 hours, rituals, traditions. But let’s reduce the pressure, you haven’t missed anything just because you’re not following all the “shoulds.”

The Year of the Horse invites movement, vitality, and independence — but it’s also about intuition: Moving in a way that feels true for you.

Remember: energy isn’t magic. It works with the choices you make. For things to change, we have to change.

“Instead of asking, ‘Did I start this year right?’ or thinking, ‘I’m already behind, I’ve missed the opportunity,’ (notice how this mirrors that same New Year pressure we feel every January).

Try asking, “What pace feels intentional for me?”

Invite yourself to move in a way that honours your energy, your body, and your life right now.

Sending love 🧡
