What most yoga studios teach today is not yoga in the classical sense. It’s a derivative, a fragment, and often a rebranding.

Let’s name it cleanly.

What yoga actually is (classically)
If we go back to the primary sources — not Instagram, not studios, not teacher trainings — yoga is defined as a system of liberation, not a movement class.

In Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, yoga is defined in one line:
Yogaḥ citta-vṛtti-nirodhaḥ
Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind.

No mention of:
- handstands
- playlists
- flexibility
- core work
- aesthetics

Asana is one limb out of eight, and originally meant a seat — something stable enough to sit and practice meditation.

What most studios teach today:
- postural yoga
- fitness-based movement
- nervous-system-soothing-without-context
- sometimes trauma-informed, sometimes not
often commodified
- almost always de-spiritualised

This form largely comes from:
19th–20th century physical culture
colonial influence
- gymnastics + calisthenics
later blended with bits of Hatha yoga

Texts like Hatha Yoga Pradipika do describe postures, but always as preparatory tools, not the goal.

Asana was meant to:
- purify the body
- stabilise energy
- make the body forgettable so consciousness could turn inward

Not to:
- perform
- optimise
- brand
- “achieve” poses

Dear all,

Due to low attendance over recent weeks, I’ve decided to suspend yoga classes for February.

This pause will give me time to reflect, reset, and rethink the structure of the classes so they can work better for everyone — including myself.

Yoga is something I truly love sharing, and this is not a goodbye, just a temporary pause. I’m very grateful to everyone who has been attending and supporting the classes, and I hope you can understand this decision.

Updates about future classes will be shared here in due course.

Child’s Pose — one of my favourites.
It can be practiced anywhere, anytime, and for as long as you need.
In this pose, you can allow yourself to let go completely — to soften, to surrender, to return to your physical body.

With every breath 🌬️, feel the tension slowly melting away, exhale by exhale.
Come back to yourself. Let the mind quiet down.

Child’s Pose is beautiful because it strips everything away — you become totally open, totally vulnerable… gently held, cuddled by existence. 💫

Here are those childlike attributes—the ones we must remember, not learn. The ones that unlock peace, presence, and power:

---

🌿 1. Wonder

Children are in awe of everything. A butterfly. A puddle. A cloud.
→ Return to the mystery. Let life astonish you.

🌱 2. Presence

They are fully in the now. Not yesterday, not tomorrow—just this moment.
→ No calculations. Just being. Just feeling.

🌞 3. Joy Without Reason

Laughing for no reason. Dancing with no music.
→ Pure joy. Not a transaction, not earned. Just flowing from within.

💫 4. Trust

A child trusts that they are held, seen, protected.
→ Trust the bigger rhythm. You are part of something vast.

🫧 5. Authenticity

They don't pretend. If they’re sad, they cry. If they’re angry, they scream.
→ No masks. No filters. Raw. Real. Sacred.

They love before you earn it. They don’t keep score.
→ Be that love. Be the one who doesn’t withhold it.

🌊 10. Freedom from Ego

They don’t compete or compare—until the world teaches them to.
→ Be before becoming. You already are enough.

1. Forehead Smoother

What it does: Relaxes tension lines, reduces forehead wrinkles.

How to do it:

Place your fingers just above your eyebrows.

Gently sweep them up toward the hairline while raising your eyebrows.

Hold for a few seconds, release, and repeat 5 times.

Then, gently smooth the entire forehead from center outward with your fingers.

2. Cheek Lifter

What it does: Lifts and tones the cheeks.

How to do it:

Smile wide while keeping lips closed.

Place fingers lightly on the top of your cheeks.

While holding the smile, try to push your cheeks upward toward your eyes.

Hold for 10 seconds, release, and repeat 3–5 times.

3. Jaw Tension Release

What it does: Relieves tension, defines jawline.

How to do it:

Sit tall and tilt your head slightly back.

Move your lower jaw forward (you'll feel a stretch under the chin).

Hold for 5–10 seconds, relax, and repeat a few times.

You can also massage along the jawline gently using your knuckles in small circular motions.

4. The ‘O’ Face (Great for Circulation)

What it does: Increases blood flow, tones lower face.

How to do it:

Form an “O” shape with your mouth (lips over your teeth).

Smile with your eyes while holding the O shape.

Place your fingers lightly on your cheeks and feel the muscles lift.

Hold for 10 seconds, repeat 3 times.

5. Eye Brightener

What it does: Reduces puffiness and under-eye bags.

How to do it:

Place your index fingers just under your eyes, pointing toward your nose.

Gently apply pressure while looking up (without moving your head).

Squint gently, feeling the muscles under your eyes working.

Hold for a few seconds, repeat 5 times.

Do these in front of a mirror, preferably in the morning or evening. Pair with deep breathing or your skincare routine. It’s not just physical—it’s meditative.
