In 2024, we launched our pink LIFELINE Lamb & Ewe buckets 💖 to raise money for the Pink Ribbon Foundation.

FETF Grant now includes Badger Blocker🦡

The next round of FETF grants will be launched on March 17th and there will be the opportunity for farms to benefit from a contribution towards a Rumenco Badger Blocker.
Our Badger Blocker 🦡 ensures feed blocks and buckets are kept out of reach of badgers. The Badger Blocker qualifies FETF grant funding which provides almost 50% of the cost.

The Badger Blocker is suitable for all Rumevite blocks and all Rumenco buckets, including 80kg tubs. At 1m above ground it keeps feed away from badgers and also sheep 🐏 to ensure that only cattle 🐄 have access to the block or bucket.

Made out of durable recycled plastic the Badger Blocker is an innovative feeding solution that offers peace of mind as part of an efficient feeding system.

The outcome was overwhelming and we raised over £21,000!!! 🎉

As lambing approaches, a ewe’s energy requirements will increase according to her liveweight, the number of lambs carried and the proximity to lambing.

We recommend sorting ewes based on their energy needs whilst not forgetting the needs of the first-time lambers as well.

Why?
A ewe’s energy requirements will increase around 60% between 7 and 1 week pre-lambing.
A 70kg ewe carrying a single, three weeks pre-lambing, has an ME requirement of 12.6 MJ/day, which increases to 16.7MJ/day with triplets, representing a substantial difference in energy demand.

How?
Sorting doesn’t have to be overly complicated or a huge burden on infrastructure. If you have a thin ewe needing extra nutrients, move her to be with higher demand ewes. So, a thin, single-bearing ewe would go into the same group as your twin-bearing ewes. A thin, twin-bearing ewe would go into the same group as ewes carrying triplets.
