A patient post-treatment with Gua Sha (oil is applied to the skin, then it is stroked firmly). Gua Sha increases microcirculation local to the treated area; that increase in circulation may play a role in local and distal decrease in myalgia. There is an unidentified pain-relieving biomechanism associated with Gua Sha.

The first 3 scenarios give you “radiculopathic pain or sciatica” mostly from foramen stenosis. Low back pain that shoot down to the foot. Positive straight leg raise might be found depend on the level of the disease.

The 4th (last) scenario mostly give you “neurogenic claudication” from ca**l stenosis. If the narrowing/stenosis happen very fast (e.g., hematoma or abscess) it can lead to “Cauda Equina Syndrome”.

Neurogenic claudication (NC), also known as pseudoclaudication, is an intermittent leg (or lower back) pain that occur with walking (in advance stages even with standing) and markedly subside by setting/rest.

Patients with Cauda Equina Syndrome may experience some or all of these “red flag” symptoms.
- Urinary retention: the most common symptom. The patient’s bladder fills with urine, but the patient does not experience the normal sensation or urge to urinate.
- Urinary and/or f***l incontinence. The overfull bladder can result in incontinence of urine. Incontinence of stool can occur due to dysfunction of the a**l sphincter.
- “Saddle anethesia” sensory disturbance, which can involve the a**s, ge****ls and buttock region.
- Weakness or paralysis of usually more than one nerve root. The weakness can affect lower extremities.
- Severe and Acute Pain in the back and/or legs.
- Sexual dysfunction.

⭐️ Electroacupuncture (EA) treatment could increase weekly spontaneous bowel movements with a good safety profile.
👉 This randomized clinical trial found that 8-week EA treatment could increase weekly spontaneous bowel movements (SBMs) with a good safety profile and improve quality of life for the treatment of OIC. Electroacupuncture thus provided an alternative option for opioid-induced constipation (OIC) in adult patients with cancer.

If you are a tea drinker, use an organic loose leaf tea and steep it. Using a stainless steel or glass strainer will reduce your microplastic exposure significantly.

If you like using tea bags for their convenience or portability, make sure you’re getting the kind that’s free from bisphenol-A (BPA), phthalates, polypropylene, and epichlorohydrin. Look for tea bags made from organic h**p, cotton, or plant fibers instead.

Tea can be an incredible source of antioxidants in your life, but just like food—quality matters.

“As the evidence base expands, acupuncture will likely continue to grow in popularity. Although acupuncture has been used for centuries, only in the past decade has there been a seismic shift in acceptance by both Western medical doctors and patients, Menard says. Ongoing research efforts and increased interest from health systems means that the treatment may be part of more conversations like Mikhael had with his patients.”

I’m always so humbled to be able to help folks in some tangible way on their journey to recovery from any illness or difficulties they may be going through.

Recently, I’ve been seeing quite a number of patients experiencing long COVID symptoms in my clinic at The Natural Healthcare Centre and acupuncture is proving to be a game changer in this regard.

So, if you or anyone you know, is suffering from long COVID, or is in any pain or having a hard time coping at the moment with anything, please get in touch with me or pass on the clinic details and one of the excellent practice managers there (Juliette, Lesley, Nicky or Louise) will help you arrange an appointment; I am incredibly busy, but the ladies know my diary very well and should be able to find space.

P.S. In addition to working at The Natural Healthcare Centre Wednesday through Friday, I also work other times in the week on a reduced schedule at Helios Centre, King’s Cross and Apothecary Natural Health Centre in Hammersmith, London. You can make an appointment by calling them, or if you can also get in touch me directly on Facebook or instagram.

We are a microcosm of the Universe. All the cycles, patterns and energies in Nature are reflected in each and every one of us. What’s happening right now in Nature? In late Autumn, the growth created from Spring through Summer and into early Autumn has reached a colourful crescendo. It’s a completion of the previous seasons, and Nature’s time to let go. Trees release their leaves to allow the vital sap within their trunks to sink back toward the soil. Without this letting go, there can be no real rest during Winter, and no subsequent growth in Spring.
