It sounds reasonable.

Slightly hopeful. Verging on positive.

As if you wait long enough, motivation will return and everything will fall back into place.

In my experience… it doesn’t work like that.

You just turn up and begin.

I have a garden.
It's not attached to the house.
Every year between October and March or I don’t open the gate.

Every year what lays behind the gate becomes a huge problem that grows and grows and grows.

It overwhelms. It grows a life of it's own.

This week’s blog is about that recognisably human habit to blow things up out of all proportion— and where it shows up everywhere else.

Most of us don’t even realise how much stress we’re carrying until something forces us to stop. Tight shoulders. A busy mind. That constant low-level hum of “go, go, go”.

This Sunday Stillness is an invitation to notice it.

We’ll slow things right down.
We’ll work with the breath.
We’ll gently shift the body out of fight-or-flight and into something a little steadier, a little softer.

Nothing dramatic.
Nothing complicated.

Just space to land.

Two of my newer yogis arrived today
with equipment.

Mat ✔️
Blocks ✔️
Strap ✔️

I mean… this is getting serious.

There’s a very specific energy to this stage —
equal parts excitement and
“what on earth have I signed up for?”

And I LOVE it.

Because this is where the magic happens.
Not when everything’s perfect,
but when you just get stuck in anyway.

Ashtanga has… a bit of a reputation.

Strict rules. No props. Full sequence. Lotus or nothing.

Which is a great way to make sure no one ever starts.

So we’re ignoring some of that.

We’ll use props.
We won’t do the full sequence.
And absolutely no forced lotus.

What we will do is build strength, confidence, and a practice that actually feels doable.

Ashtanga for Beginners starts Saturday at 9am.

Come as you are.
No lotus required.

Busy Brain

Back from holiday.
Same life.
Same routine.

Suddenly… resistance.

Not because anything’s wrong.
Just a quiet, stubborn:
“not today.”

Which is ridiculous —
because this is the routine that makes me feel better.

Apparently, I’m a horse now.
Rearing at the fence of my own life. 🐎

Anyway… I did the thing.
Eventually.
