The first time I saw Ashtanga yoga, I hated it.

It looked repetitive, impossibly difficult, and completely uninterested in whether I could actually do it or not.

And yet — years later — here I am, finding myself quietly in love with a practice I once dismissed.

Not because it got easier, but because I changed.

If you’ve tried yoga before and thought “that’s not for me”…
you probably didn’t hate yoga.

You probably just went to the wrong class.

Not all yoga is fast.
Not all yoga is strong.
Not all yoga involves arm balances, chanting, or knowing what comes next.

Some yoga starts quietly.
With breath.
With simple movements.
With permission to learn.

This new 𝐘𝐨𝐠𝐚 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 class is exactly that — a place to begin (or begin again), without needing to keep up or already know.

We go slowly.
We repeat things.
We build confidence as we go.

Yoga Foundations – Beginners Yoga

Begins Tuesday 24th February | 9:30am
IC Centre, Glastonbury Road

This is a true beginners yoga class — designed for people who are new to yoga, returning after a break, or wanting to slow things down and learn properly from the ground up.
We’ll focus on:
Simple, clear movement
Breath awareness
Basic postures and transitions
Understanding what you’re doing (and why)
No rushing. No pressure. No fancy shapes.
Just steady, supportive yoga that helps you build confidence in your body and your practice.

✨ Beginners don’t stay beginners for long — and that’s the point.

This class is about creating strong foundations so you can progress safely and steadily. If you want to start, this is the moment to be in at the beginning.

Try it for free Tuesday 24th Feb

𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤: 𝐃𝐢 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐝𝐲 💛

Di has bursitis at the moment. And instead of disappearing until she’s “better”, she shows up.

She does what she can.She adapts. She weaves her physio exercises into her practice.

This is what yoga actually looks like in real life.
Not pushing. Not proving.
Just listening, responding, and staying in relationship with the practice.

So impressed, Di. This is true yoga. ✨

I helped my son move into his first flat, felt immensely proud, cried in the car, and spent the rest of the day ambushed by memories of him as a baby. Apparently this is what happens. A reflection on transitions, letting go, and the yoga practice of staying with joy and grief at the same time.

January wasn’t easy.
Early mornings. Stiff bodies. A practice that sometimes felt like effort from start to finish.

And yet… people showed up.

Through daily yoga, a shared physical challenge, and raising nearly £500 for Cancer Research, something quietly powerful formed — not motivation, not perfection, but community built through shared effort. Some of us are even continuing into February with planks and squats. Same spirit. Same support.

I’ve written a reflection on what happens when we do hard things together — and why showing up is the practice.
