Hi! I’m Emma 👋🏼
I’m a Counsellor & Psychotherapist, and the face behind Calm Minds. I’m not used to talking about myself so this always feels a bit awkward! But I wanted to tell you a bit about Calm Minds & why I started it.
Creativity can be SO beneficial for our mental wellbeing. I wanted to create something outside the therapy room — a supportive, creative space where like-minded people can come together to slow down, reflect, and explore these patterns in a gentle way. A shared space that feels thoughtful, safe and human.
Creativity can be a powerful way to explore thoughts and feelings, especially when words are hard to find. It supports self-compassion, encourages reflection and helps us step away from over-thinking. Sharing that process in a supportive group can also create a sense of connection, reminding us we’re not alone in our experiences.
The “Quiet the Inner Critic” workshop was the first to grow out of this idea. Over time I’ve noticed many people with a shared struggle, appearing again and again. The world is full of people who are thoughtful, capable and caring - but who are also incredibly hard on themselves internally. (Including me sometimes!)
The critic may saythings like:
“You should be doing better.”
“You’re not good enough.”
“Everyone else seems to have it figured out.”
Over time that voice can become so familiar that we barely even question it.
The workshops aren’t about “fixing” yourself or trying to get rid of the critical voice. But more about getting curious about it — where it came from, what it’s trying to do for you, and how you might begin to relate to yourself with a bit more understanding and compassion.
I keep the groups intentionally small so the space feels supportive and comfortable for everyone involved.
If this resonates with you, I’d really love to welcome you to a workshop 🤍
