💙 Blue Monday: What It Is and How to Brighten the “Saddest Day of the Year”

Each year, the third Monday in January earns a gloomy nickname, Blue Monday.
It’s said to be the “saddest day of the year,” as post holiday blues, dark days, and cold weather take their toll.
While the science behind it isn’t solid, the feeling can be real. Many of us struggle with low mood, motivation, or loneliness this time of year, and that’s okay.

✨ How to Beat the Blue Monday Blues:
1️⃣ Get moving, even a short walk boosts endorphins.
2️⃣ Connect with others, a chat or coffee can lift your spirits.
3️⃣ Plan something to look forward to.
4️⃣ Practice gratitude, small positives make a big difference.
5️⃣ Embrace self-care, rest, reflect, and reset.

💙 A New Take on Blue Monday
Let’s turn it into a day of reflection and renewal, a reminder to check in with ourselves and each other.

Losing someone you love—no matter how much time has passed—doesn’t always hurt any less. Grief can come back in waves, and that doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means they mattered. It means your love for them is still alive.

Moments like Christmas can make that absence feel even heavier. So please, be gentle with yourself. Let your heart feel what it needs to feel. It’s okay to pause. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to miss them.

Even though you can’t see them, they’re still woven into who you are. Their love shaped you, stayed with you, and still walks beside you in ways you may not even notice. They loved you for exactly who you are, and that doesn’t disappear.

So take things one small step at a time. Hold close the people who are here with you, take care of yourself, and keep going—with love, with tenderness, and with the quiet strength they always knew you had ❤️

It’s Grief Awareness Week 💜

The theme for 2025 is 'Growing with Grief'. The aim is to highlight how grief is an ending in many ways, but can also be the beginning of something new. The growth people may experience from grief doesn't erase the pain, but can help people to become more present, compassionate and aware of what matters in life.

Grief is something every one of us will face in our lifetime, yet it often remains unspoken or widely misunderstood.

If you’re needing support, please know you’re not alone.
