Today was a day for mixed emotions. After 4 years of running our day centre for the elderly, we've had to close. We opened after Covid which stopped many people from socialising and elderly felt isolated. I achieved what I set out to do with a lot of help from my amazing staff and family. I've met some lovely people who I will continue to keep in contact with. I loved seeing everyone on a Monday and celebrating various birthdays with them over the last 4 years. We will continue to support our elderly clients in the community. 🥰

We still have a couple of slots available at our day centre that is open on a Monday from 9:30 - 2:30. If your looking for somewhere to meet others for socialising then contact Kelly on 07453777500. We do a range of activities, plus we have now had a bowls carpet donated to us from the Elmswell bowls club. Come and join us for a drink and lunch is provided.

We currently have capacity to support with your loved ones. Supporting with block care visits. We are flexible, and try to keep carer continuity as much as possible, as building up a trusting relationship is so important when supporting someone.

“Just a inexperienced carer” they say. This is the reality of working in care….
We don’t just “wipe backsides” or “make cups of tea all day” or even sit around all day chatting to one another…we have a duty of care. We help pick out an outfit every morning , wash, dress and comb their hair. We reassure them when they’re having a frustrating day, we sing, we dance, we kiss your loved one on the forehead goodnight and tell them we love them every night when putting them to bed, we create and grow bonds like never before. They’re more then just a resident, they’re our family. We’re left heartbroken when a resident passes and are still expected to carry on with our work, stay professional and on to the next resident. Tonight I’ve come home and broken down like never before and all I see on social media is “they’re just a carer” well I’m “just a carer” and it’s the hardest yet most rewarding job there ever has been and I wouldn’t change my job for the world. I’ll hold the memories created with each resident that comes and goes forever ❤️
