Things that kept me nourished in July.

I have definitely been trying to hold onto the little moments, reading books that give me hope during times of despair and help me imagine a different way of living. Growing, tending to, picking and eating tomatoes from our garden. Lots of time outdoors with the trees and the sea, a trip to spend time with family in Scotland and lots of food for thought

4 ingredient Ice creams ☀️

You will need;

14 medjool dates, soak for 5 minutes in boiling water then cut into small chunks

1 cup greek yoghurt

1/4 cup Almond butter

200g of dark chocolate

Mix the yoghurt and almond butter together then stir in the dates. Simply fill your ice cream moulds with this mixture. This amount made 6 ice creams.

Place in the freezer until set.

Melt your dark chocolate and option to add in a handful of chopped nuts for texture, I just used a handful of almonds.

Remove the ice cream from moulds and coat in chocolate and then lay on parchment paper and return to the freezer until set.

If you kids are anything like mine make a big batch and keep them in the freezer so you don't have to rely on the ultra processed shop bought versions over the summer!

I think that Doula's are mostly 'being' rather than 'doing'.

I will be by your side, adapting to your needs as you move through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

I will always be informed by you, the expert of your body and following your needs and your choices. I have no agenda, I will support you however you decide to give birth and however you decide you need to be cared for and held postpartum.

Being with you, being present, listening and holding space so you can digest and unpack your thoughts, voice your wishes and fears around pregnancy, the birth experience and the transformative postpartum period.

I am solely invested in you and your family.

So whether you're looking for antenatal guidance, birth support, postpartum care, nourishment in the form of food or nutritional guidance as your health recovers and adapts.
My role is to be a supportive anchor, to inform and signpost and ultimately be someone who makes you feel seen and heard throughout your experience.

I am hugely passionate about providing continuity of care, being by your side through is all, building that connection. I'll show up to listen, validate your experience and hold space for you as you meet motherhood.

If you are pregnant or postpartum and would like to know more about hiring a Doula you can send me a message or email me hello@jessicamaeparker.com.

For individuals and couples who have battled infertility, the birth of a baby is an experience marked by additional layers of complexity.

Undergoing fertility treatment is often fraught with emotional, physical, financial and relationship challenges. Becoming a parent doesn't erase the pain of your past struggles, it's important to have space and support to process these complex emotions.

Maternal mental health refers to women's mental health during pregnancy and the first year postpartum. Approximately 1 in 5 women develop mental health problems. Despite there being increased conversations and awareness around the pressures of pregnancy, postpartum and motherhood, there is still stigma and a lack of individualised support.

Often we can feel that we don't want to share because we are concerned about judgment or simply not being understood, but using your voice and sharing your feelings and emotions helps process and digest what you're going through and means that you can take steps towards feeling better.

This place has a little piece of my heart

The surroundings here are really something, I wake up each day excited to see outside. While the scenery is the same the view changes with the tides, the season and sharing in the awe and wonder of this place with the guests is really something special.

While I don't get to go out exploring the beaches and the coastline of Anglesey with .trent.co and her guests, I am here working after all! promise! I do get to step outside and recharge in this wonderful spot.

Some words on what led me to become a Doula.

I've been working and supporting people through pregnancy and postpartum in my work as a nutritional therapist for nearly 7 years now however reflecting and discussing my birth and postpartum experiences, highlighted to me all over again just how important it is to support those moving through this overwhelming and transformative period of life.
The knowledge and insight gained from has been invaluable and I appreciate all the support and guidance they have offered as I step into being a Doula.

A week of family dinners

Over 30 different plants eaten just with dinners taken into consideration. Spices, herbs, vegetables, legumes, citrus, nuts and seeds to nourish us during a gloomy week in winter.

Winter cooking means lots of warming, comforting dishes. As a family we sit down on a Sunday and each decide on a dish for the week, I’ve found this encourages the kids to try different dishes and flavours cause they are excited to try their chosen meal.

Which dish do you like the look of?
