We regret to inform you that due to ongoing financial pressures in the Community Pharmacy sector, we must adjust our opening hours at Croasdales (Mountpharm) Pharmacy. This decision has not been made lightly, but it is necessary to ensure we can continue serving our community.

Why is this happening?

Although we have seen more patients relying on our pharmacy, the amount we are reimbursed by the government for medicines often doesn’t cover the cost of supplying them. At the same time, we have had to employ more staff to manage the increasing workload, which has put even more financial strain on us.

For years, government funding for pharmacies has remained stagnant while costs have risen dramatically. Since 2016:
β€’ The minimum wage has increased from Β£7.20 to Β£12.21 per hour.
β€’ Energy, medicine supply, and operational costs have soared.
β€’ Our rent has increased by 32% following a recent review.

With little financial support from the government, an average of seven pharmacies per week have closed since January 2023. To avoid closure and continue providing essential services, we must adjust our hours.

New Opening Hours (Effective 29th April 2025):

Monday to Friday:
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

We remain committed to delivering the best possible care and will reassess our hours if fair pharmacy funding is introduced.

How You Can Help

If you value your local pharmacy, please consider raising this issue with your local Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Prinsley peter.prinsley.mp@parliament.uk to push for better support.

If you have any questions, Superintendent Pharmacist Nicholas Cooper is happy to discuss this further.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this challenging time.

He says he will lose cash despite the government's funding rise.

Magnesium contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and the normal functioning of the nervous system. It also contributes to maintaining normal muscle function, including the heart muscle. Magnesium is also increasingly recognised as a nutrient that can contribute to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue.Magnesium is termed an essential nutrient which means we must obtain it from our diet. Each tablet provides the full adult NRV of magnesium in the form of a unique blend of 4 different magnesium compounds. This one a day tablet is an excellent partner for most multivitamin formulas.

CHICKEN POX VACCINATION - Our pharmacist at Croasdales Mountpharm is fully trained to administer the two chicken pox vaccines - Varivax and Varilrix.

Chickenpox (varicella) is an extremely common infection that affects around 90% of children in the UK by the age of 15. It is easy to catch chickenpox, it is very contagious. Chickenpox is infectious from 1 to 2 days before the spots appear to until the blisters are dried and crusted (around 5 to 6 days after the start of the rash).

Although chickenpox is normally mild, the illness can cause your child to suffer from great discomfort. Chickenpox may be severe for those who suffer from weak immune systems. Is it worth taking the risk and having your child unwell and off school/nursery for a minimum of a week and passing it on to other children in your household?

The vaccines are given over two doses, six weeks apart, to book your first appointment please visit our services page on our website. Link in bio.
