A huge congratulations to Eleanor for coming runner up in the BARDOC Healthy Hero Competition!

We’re so proud to see such creativity and enthusiasm from our young people across Bury, Bolton, Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton. Eleanor’s entry truly stood out, sharing a fantastic and inspiring message about what it means to be a Healthy Hero.

Eleanor has come runner up in the Bardoc Healthy Heroes competition entered at school! Her design of Vitamin Girl has been turned into a real cartoon drawing and she has also received £50 in vouchers!! Amazing!

We want to take a moment to recognise one of our incredible BARDOC team members who has ‘Braved the Shave’.

After recently receiving the difficult news that her cancer has returned, Jean will be starting chemotherapy and immunotherapy from 1st April. In preparation for this, Jean made the courageous decision to shave her head - turning a challenging moment into something powerful and positive by raising funds for two charities close to her heart: Cancer Research and the Lymphoedema Support Network.

On Sunday, surrounded by love and support Jean ‘Braved the Shave’ - a moment of strength, resilience, and togetherness.

We are incredibly proud to have such strength and positivity within the BARDOC family.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness is a reminder to know the symptoms and act early.

Symptoms can be vague and may include:

- persistent bloating
- tummy pain
- feeling full quickly
- needing to wee more often
- unexplained changes in appetite

If you notice ongoing symptoms that are unusual for you, it’s important to speak to your GP. When discussing symptoms, let your doctor know about any family history of cancer, not just ovarian cancer and not only in parents or siblings, as this can help assess your overall risk.

Keeping up to date with cervical screening when invited is also an important part of protecting your gynaecological health. Early action can make a real difference. 🎗️💙🩺✨

We had a fantastic time attending the Young People’s Project organised by Bury Care Academy!

The team from BARDOC were proud to deliver a live demonstration of the GM Falls Response Service, giving participants a hands-on insight into how we support the community.

The group had great fun getting involved and learning how to take basic observations and even trying out some of the lifting equipment. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and confidence as they stepped into real-world healthcare scenarios.

The Young People’s Project is a 4-week programme designed to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to secure paid employment in adult social care. Programmes like this are vital in creating pathways into rewarding careers while helping to build the future workforce.

A big thank you to everyone involved - we’re excited to see where these young people’s journeys take them next!
