❤ Heart Disease in Women. The Risk Is Real.
Heart disease is the number one cause of death in women, yet it is still widely misunderstood, under recognised, and under treated.
There is a long standing misconception that heart disease is a “man’s condition”. This belief has led to women’s symptoms being dismissed, misdiagnosed, or attributed to other causes, often with devastating consequences.
In the UK alone, more than 3.6 million women are living with ischaemic heart disease. Around one in fourteen women will die from coronary heart disease. Many of these deaths are considered preventable with earlier recognition, monitoring, and treatment.
Women are also less likely to be referred for diagnostic tests or specialist treatment and are under represented in cardiovascular research. This disparity contributes to poorer outcomes following heart attacks and delayed care.
At Hilton House Medical, we believe women deserve to be listened to, taken seriously, and offered proactive, preventative healthcare. Monitoring key risk factors such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and overall cardiovascular health can make a life saving difference.
If something does not feel right, trust your instincts and seek medical advice. Early action saves lives.
