Ryan Godwin Care Sector Leader | Dementia Advocate | Community Builder
I would love to introduce myself as a proud trustee of Beacon Dementia and Wellbeing.
I’m a passionate advocate for dignity in later life and have spent over 15 years leading care services across Rossendale and the wider Lancashire region. My journey in the care sector has been deeply rooted in hands-on experience, with a particular focus on dementia support and wellbeing.
As the proprietor of Holme Manor Care Home, I’ve worked hard to build environments where compassion and professionalism go hand in hand. I also promote the Apres Shower Body Dryer which was invented by my late Father. I have led Homecare Services across Lancashire and Greater Manchester, all designed to help individuals live safely, independently, and with purpose.
I hold a Level 4 qualification in Health and Social Care, along with advanced training in safeguarding, palliative care, mental health awareness, and dementia support. But for me, care has never just been about qualifications—it’s about relationships built on trust, empathy, and respect.
I was honoured to be named a finalist for the Pride of Rossendale Man of the Year award. It meant a lot to be recognised for the work I’ve poured into both my professional life and the community I care so deeply about.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my ongoing support for Civic Pride Rossendale. Every year, I have donated thousands of plants and flowers to help brighten up public spaces across the Valley. They are used in community gardens like Sparrow Park, and I’ve worked closely with Civic Pride to provide planters and horticultural support for their Britain in Bloom efforts.
Outside of work, I find joy in reading, exploring local history, and horology—the art of timekeeping. It’s a fitting passion, really. In my line of work, I’ve come to understand just how precious every moment truly is.
