A very special thank you to one of our longest-serving volunteers!
Joyce Keeble has been with Bury Hospice since the very beginning, giving an incredible 34 years of service (alongside Sandra Morris, who volunteers in our shop on The Rock).
Joyce and her husband Fred actually first met while working on the railways and they have both been lifelong train enthusiast ever since. So when the East Lancashire Railway kindly gifted us VIP tickets to their Railway 200 celebrations on Friday the 12th September, it was the perfect way to thank Joyce for her dedication and to give the couple a special day out together.
The VIP service was pulled by the LMS 0-6-0 locomotive 11456 (L&YR 752), built by Beyer Peacock in 1881, a true piece of railway history.
We are so grateful to Joyce, Sandra, and all of our incredible volunteers who give their time to support Bury Hospice. Joyce and her husband Fred are pictured with Mike Kelly, East Lancashire Railway Chairman.
