Hello everyone!! I have been missing in action on here for a while and Im sorry about that. Just because I haven't been showing up on here, doesn't mean I haven't been out there busy working, doing what I love the most offering massage and reiki to my gorgeous clients, both horses and humans!
Today I videoed Millie as I treated her while her owner couldn't be there. And Millie was so beautifully relaxed I had to get some footage to share with her owner. And her owner has agreed for me to share on here.
I got a few videos and each one just fills my heart seeing her relax and show some lovely releases, with such a soft eye, the twitching of her nose/ mouth, the head shake/nod and stretch of her neck long and low with licking and chewing. Text book releases and I left her feeling super Zen.
Millie has been having regular reiki sessions for over 2 years now and she always gets so much from it.

This Niagara Equissage massage pad is in excellent condition, owned it from new, well looked after and maintained, always stored in a dry tack room. Another lovely Sunday morning hack. Zeus wearing his Union Jack with pride for remembrance sunday. He also had a poppy pinned to his bonnet. Special moment hearing the church bells ring out at 11am and holding our 2mins silence while on horseback. Remembering those who have fallen, soldiers, and horses given their tomorrow for our today. ❤️

Have you ever thought about how your mental health as well as your physical health impacts your riding?
Do you have a nervous horse who you want to ride, but you're not enjoying the rides because you are just feeling stressed and anxious about the "what ifs"?
Your horse picks up on your nerves, and they will respond. If you are in "fight or flight mode" all the time, then your horse be.
Take some time to look at your wellbeing. Take some actions to help, practice some controlled breathing exercises, meditation, reiki, massage and try writing your thoughts and feelings down, jornal your wins each time you ride or just that day. Take things in bite size chuncks, do short hacks, take the wins wherever you can, and 'bank' a good ride one at a time, building those good experiences in your wellbeing bank. I speak from experience, after a nasty fall years ago and a bit of a challenging time with Zeus after we moved yards I thought I wouldn't ride again, especially not on my own or out on the roads but now there is no stopping us, out on all sorts of adventures. And it's not been easy, growth generally isn't, but it's 100% worth it. Autumn is well and truly here. The mud is coming, turn out for many may be coming to an end or being reduced. Now is a good time to be getting your horse's treated. As they start to spend more time stood in the stable, injuries are starting to show from slipping in the mud . Good to give your horse the check over before we head fully into the winter months. Massage can help prevent injury, and it can help to identify any tension that could cause problems further down the line. It can also help your horse mentally as well as physically. Helping to keep them calm and adjust to limited turnout.

Autumn has definitely arrived, the rain and the cooler temperatures. This is a good time to have your horse treated with massage and /or with reiki. To get hands on to assess how your horse is feeling, if there is any tension that may need releasing. Reduce any stress before their turnout becomes restricted and they are being stabled more. Let's reduce the risk of injury going into the cooler months. Massage and reiki cam help improve posture and performance. It helps the mind as much as it does the body. When danger is sensed, the sympathetic nervous system releases adrenaline and cortisol, preparing the horse to escape. The fascia, is a interbuilt highway, that covers the whole body, that communicates with the sympathetic nerve by acting as a large sensory organ rich in nerve endings that respond to stimuli like stress and touch. When the sympathetic "fight-or-flight" system is activated by stress, it signals the fascia to tighten, increasing tension and flexibility restrictions. This creates a bidirectional relationship where sympathetic signals can trigger fascial changes, and conversely, fascial receptors can communicate sensory information back to the brain, influencing the nervous system. With the use of massage and reiki treatments we can aid your horse to switch from fight or flight response to the rest and restore, healing state. Relaxing and soothing the fascia will send messages to the brain to release the negative energy that is stored within the fascia allowing the restrictions that your horse may be experiencing physically and mentally to be improved. For the endorphins to be released and their body's to heal.

So when people think massage is a pamper or unnecessary for their horses or that Reiki is woowoo they couldn't be more wrong.

Stress activates the fight or flight instinct. But in many cases, the horse never gets to fully run or fight so that energy then becomes stuck/stored in their bodies. Helping them release that energy, with a message and reiki, it enables them to process it and release it. Providing them a safe space and with the healing touch enables their nervous system to let it go, clearing that unwanted energy.
The signs of a horse having a soft eye and the gentlest of nods of their head or twitching in their bodies are signs of the body/nervous system completing the process. They look like they are snoozing, but they are not, there is a lot more going on than that, more than what the eyes can see, but something the horse is feeling. Regular treatment helps to remove layers of stress that have built up over the years.

I am so lucky to have such wonderful owners who I work with, who trust me to treat their beautiful horses. Over the years I have got to know everyone well, I love a good natter when I'm on my yard visits, but it is so important that I also keep focus on the horse and their responses to the treatment. I don't want to miss the smallest of changes, the change in their breathing, the softness off the eye, the long blinks. I need to observe these changes as they tell me what the horse needs. So if I'm ever quiet, it's not that I don't want to talk, coz I do, but I want to do the best I can for your horse and I want to do the job Im there to do. At the end of the day, your horse is the most important during my visit. That all being said, I love hearing your stories about you and your horse and what you have been up to. Having a good working relationship with my owners is also so important to me.
I appreciate each and every one of you and your lovely 4-legged friends.

Another great day out on yard visits today, treating gorgeous horses big and small with massage and reiki. Just look at these whiskers on Millies chin twitching away as she processed her reiki. She loves having her regular reiki. She is such a gorgeous girl. My hands were filthy at the end of the day, but my heart was extremely full. ❤️

It was all too much to hold his head up during the massage. Poor Gadget, one of my regular massage clients, he was that relaxed and sleepy during his treatment the other week he had to rest his chin on a nearby post. He had completely melted into deep rest and restore mode. I l9ve seeing your horses in this state. it's so wholesome. Love my job.
