It was a pleasure to have the students visit last week to spend time in the garden with our residents. Looking forward to the next visit in a couple of weeks! 🌿🌲🌱

Members of the THS leadership team spent the afternoon gardening with residents at Abbeywood Care Home today. Both students and residents had a fantastic time. Our students really value the community partnership that they have developed with the residents and staff at Abbeywood.

🎉 VE Day Celebrations at Abbeywood 🎉

What a lovely afternoon we’ve had at St John’s Church for their fabulous VE Day party! A huge thank you to Councillor Yvonne Wright for inviting us - our residents had a wonderful time soaking up the atmosphere, enjoying the music, and sharing memories over tea and cake.

We’re keeping the celebrations going all weekend:
Tomorrow at 2pm, we’ll be welcoming the D Day Dollies for a special performance in the lounge - don’t miss it!
And on Saturday, we’ll be rounding off the week with a VE Day themed evening tea.

🎉 George Ran the Manchester Marathon! 🎉

A huge well done to George, our Operations Manager, who completed the Manchester Marathon and raised an incredible £855 for the Abbeywood Residents' Fund! 🏃‍♂️💙

We’re so proud of his effort and so grateful to everyone who donated and supported him along the way. The money raised will go directly towards fun activities, outings, and events for our wonderful residents.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be chatting with residents and families to gather ideas on how we should spend the money—whether that’s trips out, entertainment, or something special at home.

At Abbeywood Care Home, we believe in creating joyful and meaningful experiences for our residents. That’s why we’ve launched a fundraiser to support our Residents' Fund, which helps us organise fun activities, day trips, entertainment, and special events for the wonderful people who call our home theirs.

This year, our Operations Manager, George, is taking on the Manchester Marathon on 27th April 2025 to raise money for this cause. Every mile run will help fund activities that bring smiles, laughter, and special memories to our residents.

We’re asking for your support to help us reach our goal and make a real difference in the lives of our residents. Every donation counts, and your contribution will go directly to funding activities and events that brighten their days.

🌟 Exciting Updates from Abbeywood Care Home! 🌟

On Friday afternoon, some of our residents enjoyed a lovely trip to The Robin Hood up the road, sharing drinks, laughter, and good company! It’s always wonderful to see our residents out and about, making the most of their time together.

We’re also thrilled to announce that we will soon be welcoming a new Activities Coordinator to the team! 🎉 They’ll be bringing fresh ideas and organising a variety of activities to keep our residents engaged and entertained.

To keep families and friends informed, we will now be producing quarterly newsletters, sharing updates on activities, events, and any changes within the home.

Thank you for your continued support—we love creating a warm and vibrant community for our residents. And we look forward to lots more trips out and activities within the home. 💙

Today at Abbeywood Care Home, we honored Remembrance Sunday with our wonderful residents, celebrating the lives and bravery of those who served. It was a day filled with reflection, gratitude, and heartfelt memories as we came together to pay our respects. 🇬🇧🌺 From sharing stories to singing along to traditional songs, each moment reminded us of the strength and resilience of past generations. Thank you to our residents and team for making this Remembrance Day special. Lest we forget.

Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming the Ukybobs Ukulele Band of Bury to Abbeywood.

The residents enjoyed a wide variety of classics and golden oldies throughout the afternoon. The ukulele’s brought a smile to all.

Thanks to the Ukybobs for performing, and we look forward to hosting them once more!

They really were one of a kind!
