👚 Pop-Up Clothes Shop at Abbeywood 👗
We will be welcoming a pop-up clothes shop to Abbeywood on Thursday 26th March from 2:00pm.
Residents will have the opportunity to browse a selection of clothing and accessories, making it a lovely afternoon activity and a chance to pick up something new for the wardrobe.
Family members and friends are very welcome to come along and join us, help residents choose a few items, and enjoy the afternoon together.
We look forward to seeing you there! 🛍️

Unfortunately, due to a respiratory outbreak within the home, we have had to make the decision to cancel this afternoon’s Animal Club session.
The health and safety of our residents, visitors and external professionals is always our priority, and limiting non-essential visits during this time is part of our infection control measures.
We will be rearranging the session and will confirm a new date as soon as possible.

Elvis has left the building!
Last week, Abbeywood had the pleasure of welcoming an Elvis Presley tribute act for a special afternoon of entertainment. Our residents (and staff!) were thoroughly engaged, singing along to all the classics, sharing plenty of laughs and even some tears. It was wonderful to see so many smiles and laughter throughout the home. We look forward to hopefully welcoming Elvis back throughout the year!

📢 Update for Our Friends and Families – Today’s Entertainment Cancelled

We just wanted to let everyone know that today’s Harwood Harmonies visit (Sunday) has been cancelled. We’ve had a few residents feeling under the weather, so we’re keeping group activities to a minimum while they recover.

We’re sorry for any disappointment and will rearrange the visit as soon as we’re able.

🎄✨ CHRISTMAS AT ABBEYWOOD ✨🎄
We’re excited to invite you to our Abbeywood Christmas Party on:
📅 Wednesday 17th December
⏰ 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Join us for an evening of festive fun with our residents, families and friends – there’ll be live music, refreshments and plenty of Christmas cheer!

We also have some lovely festive performances lined up:
🎄 Footlights Choir singing carols – visiting on Saturday 6th December at 2pm
🎶 Harwood Harmonies – performing on Sunday 7th December at 12pm
🎟 Raffle tickets are now available to buy from the office – all proceeds will go towards our Residents’ Fund.

We had the pleasure of welcoming back the Harwood Harmonies on the 20th September, a couple of weeks ago.

It was a wet and miserable afternoon outside but the group came and lifted all our spirits!!

It was a pleasure to have the students visit last week to spend time in the garden with our residents. Looking forward to the next visit in a couple of weeks! 🌿🌲🌱

Members of the THS leadership team spent the afternoon gardening with residents at Abbeywood Care Home today. Both students and residents had a fantastic time. Our students really value the community partnership that they have developed with the residents and staff at Abbeywood.

🎉 VE Day Celebrations at Abbeywood 🎉

What a lovely afternoon we’ve had at St John’s Church for their fabulous VE Day party! A huge thank you to Councillor Yvonne Wright for inviting us - our residents had a wonderful time soaking up the atmosphere, enjoying the music, and sharing memories over tea and cake.

We’re keeping the celebrations going all weekend:
Tomorrow at 2pm, we’ll be welcoming the D Day Dollies for a special performance in the lounge - don’t miss it!
And on Saturday, we’ll be rounding off the week with a VE Day themed evening tea.

🎉 George Ran the Manchester Marathon! 🎉

A huge well done to George, our Operations Manager, who completed the Manchester Marathon and raised an incredible £855 for the Abbeywood Residents' Fund! 🏃‍♂️💙

We’re so proud of his effort and so grateful to everyone who donated and supported him along the way. The money raised will go directly towards fun activities, outings, and events for our wonderful residents.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be chatting with residents and families to gather ideas on how we should spend the money—whether that’s trips out, entertainment, or something special at home.
