Three hours of restorative yoga might seem like a lot but the time wizzes past and could be the most relaxing experience you've had in years. You become deeply aware of the the experience of relaxation. Bit like being alert to yourself sleeping. Peeling back the Years another picture that the Bury Times took to include in an article about our little experiment
A group of therapists with a variety of skills working in the NHS in Bury. Aimed at deprived areas we were given funding from the lottery for a 4 year period to assess the validity of our input.
We were based at Huntly Mount Surgery but open to all surgeries in Bury. I was offering Hypnotherapy and NLP. There were aromatherapist and several hands on techniques. Dr. Demetrio already offered homeopathy and his wife was a counsellor there.
We were allocated a room at the surgery and each of us took 1/2 a day I believe
The only other surgery that took advantage of us was a small interest from Peel when we went in there a couple of times.
It was dependant on doctors refering their patients to us and that was probably the hardest things to acheive.
Slowly over the 4 years it did build up and the result showed a significant saving in doctors time and also in medication costs. Unfortunately it did not go any further.
It was fun while it lasted. I particuolarly liked working as a team for a while.
