We often get asked about what's the best family tree program. We have to say that there is no best program, they all have their own features, bells and whistles, some of these features are available in one program but not in another and it's really a matter of what you want the program to do. Everybody who uses a program will tell you that it's the best one purely because they use it and they know how it works there's also the matter of cost and the only way to tell if a program suits your needs is to download it and try it but not all programs offer a free demo version.

We would like to point out that there are a couple of free, fully functional programs that are free to download and use forever.

They both have some family tree chart design capabilities and as with all other family tree programs they are both fully gedcom compatible and will import and export gedcom files.

Another monster family tree print. people, 820 inches wide by 36 inches tall. We had to split it down the middle to print it on 2 pages.

Had an unusual request for 2 family tree prints designed by our customer using some very old software. Visual Chart Form, it was a stand alone program that could be used with The Master Genealogist for designing and printing tree charts, both programs went out of production many years ago. We still had the programs on an old Windows 98 machine, dug it out of storage and fired it up and used it to print both of the charts. One at 165 x 24 inches and the other at 125 x 10 inches. Pictures faded for privacy.
