As part of our fundraising for Barchester's Charitable Foundation, our Head Chef at Bushey House Beaumont is baking a delicious selection of cakes and breads for residents, families, staff and the local community to enjoy.

To place an order, simply call 020 8421 8844.

Quantities are limited, so please place your orders early.

All profits will go to Barchester's Charitable Foundation, which supports older people and adults living with a disability or mental health condition across England, Scotland, Wales and Jersey.

The Foundation provides grants to help people connect or reconnect with others in their local community, with a focus on reducing loneliness and helping people stay active and engaged.

Bushey House Beaumont is proud to celebrate Kamila Jander, Receptionist and Admin Assistant, who has received a 20 Year Service Award in recognition of her dedication to Barchester Healthcare.

Kamila joined Barchester in March 2006 and has spent the last 20 years supporting residents, relatives and colleagues with kindness, professionalism and commitment.

We’re delighted to be celebrating 20 years of loyal service with Kamila. She has demonstrated her dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year.

SUNNY AFTERNOONS AT BUSHEY HOUSE

Our residents made the most of the wonderful weather yesterday ,with afternoon drinks and cakes in the garden . We are so lucky to enjoy the most beautiful gardens at Bushey House and our residents really enjoy spending time outside and going for assisted walks around our gardens for some gentle exercise.

Last week we held our monthly Parkinson's Pals Café. We had some new attendees and also had Tom Parker from Parkinson's UK join us. The café was hosted by Gail Keane, one of our carers at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home in the absence of our Home Services Advisor, Sarah. We also had Tina, our activities lead come to talk about the activities we have at Bushey House. It was a lovely afternoon.

Today was a very special day at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home, where we enjoyed a lovely lunch with our residents and their family members in the dining room.

As part of the day, we asked some of our residents a few questions about motherhood, including what makes being a mother special, what is special about the mother and daughter relationship, and how they felt when they first became a mother.

Their answers were so genuine and heartfelt, and the video clips are really touching. It was a lovely way to reflect on the importance of motherhood and the special memories and relationships that come with it.

Mothers Day at Bushey House

Residents enjoyed an afternoon of cake decorating on Friday in preparation for Mothers Day . Our residents created some beautiful cakes , some for gifts for family members and some to enjoy themselves . Wishing all our lovely residents , their families and our staff a very happy Mother’s Day .

Yesterday, Bushey House Beaumont Care Home was delighted to welcome Annie Brewster, Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, to the home as part of our International Women’s Day celebrations.

Annie spoke to residents, relatives and visitors about her remarkable journey through public service, including her roles as Mayor of St Albans, Chairman of Hertfordshire County Council, High Sheriff of Hertfordshire and now Deputy Lieutenant. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed hearing how her leadership journey began as Head Girl at school.

A particular highlight of the afternoon was seeing Annie in her uniform and also having the opportunity to view her High Sheriff uniform, which she kindly brought along to show everyone. After her talk, Annie stayed for a Q&A session and then spent time speaking to each resident and guest individually, making everyone feel truly valued.

Our Head Chef Roman also created a delicious cake and scones especially for Annie, carefully taking into account her dietary requirements.

Thank you, Annie, for helping us make International Women’s Day so special.

Bingo Afternoon at Bushey House

Residents enjoyed an afternoon of Bingo at Bushey House on Monday . Bingo is not only a great fun game to play ,with a chance to win a prize, but it’s also great for memory and cognitive skills. Our residents had a fun afternoon and our three prize winners were very happy with their prizes of chocolate and spring plants for their rooms .

🥂 Celebrating Molly's 106th Birthday ✨

Field House Care Home in recently celebrated Molly’s remarkable 106th birthday in style.

Molly marked the occasion with a glass of champagne while reading her birthday card from the King.

She spent the day surrounded by staff, family and friends, sharing fascinating stories from her life.

Molly says the key to a long and happy life is “To keep active and healthy!”

🥇 Castle Lodge Celebrates Outstanding CQC Rating 🥇

The team at Castle Lodge Independent Hospital in Sutton, are celebrating as they passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating - the best possible rating.

The CQC report found that all staff knew their residents exceptionally well and were dedicated and driven to offering them the best possible care, supported them to maintain their independence and retain control of decision-making. The report praised the hospital for promoting a culture where people were truly respected, their dignity protected, where they were valued as individuals and empowered as partners in their own care.

A patient shared: “The staff are lovely and kind, they go out of their way to help me”.

To mark the occasion, our CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, visited Castle Lodge to congratulate everyone and award each member of staff a £500 voucher to celebrate their achievement.

🍺 Cheers! Hilton Park Opens a Bar for Residents 🍹

Colleagues at Hilton Park Care Home in have come up with the genius idea of creating their own bar for their residents. What could possibly be better than a space within the home where residents can kick back, relax and enjoy a pint and a chat, exactly as if they were down at their local.

The concept for the bar came from the team who recognised the value of creating a pub-style space for residents who may not want to go out but who might still like to experience a pub setting. The team brought the idea to life, transforming the lounge into a warm and inviting space.

Staff and residents proudly celebrated the launch of the new Hilton Lounge Bar with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Residents’ Ambassadors John and Beverley and live music from vocalist, Luan.

Such a fantastic idea! 👏

⭐ Customer Satisfaction Awards Finalist ⭐

Our double award-winning Customer Experience team has been shortlisted for another national award - this time in the hotly-contested ‘Best Customer Satisfaction Strategy’ category in the 2026 UK Customer Satisfaction Awards.

Our annual ‘Tell Barchester’ survey collates feedback from residents and patients, and their loved ones. Every single piece of feedback given is considered and acted upon. Tell Barchester was entered into the awards alongside survey provider CustomerSure and the entry has successfully made the grade.

The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony at the Hilton Park Lane hotel in March.

⛰️ 15 Mile Hike for Charity 🏃

On February 28th, a team of eight colleagues from Chester Court Care Home in will be tackling a 15-mile hike to raise money for Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

The Foundation supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.

Laura Tindle is normally the General Manager at Chester Court, but on February 28th she will be donning her walking boots and leading her team using sheer grit and determination on a 15-mile hike from sister home Bedewell Grange Care Home - Barchester Healthcare in back to Chester Court in Bedlington, in order to raise funds for the Foundation.

No strangers to a charity challenge, the team at Chester Court has been training hard.

Residents were also very complimentary about life at the home: “This is like home from home for me. I am happy and comfortable here and there is nothing that could be done better for me. I have got everything I need.”

👏 Barchester’s Charitable Foundation: Record-breaking 25th Anniversary Year 👏

We’re thrilled to share that Barchester’s Charitable Foundation marked its 25th anniversary with a record-breaking £424,000 raised in 2025 – the highest in its history.

Thanks to the incredible support of colleagues, supporters and corporate partners, the funding helped 262 small community groups and charities, as well as 123 individuals.

The vast majority of grants for disabled and older individuals are for mobility aids such as mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs and specialist walkers, enabling people to get out and about in their local community and to take part in social activities. This type of help can be transformative to people’s day-to-day life and wellbeing, as well as giving back independence and freedom.

Grants to small community groups and local charities have been more varied, funding a broad range of activities, outings, transport, equipment and materials for older people and adults with disabilities and mental health challenges. The projects cover a very wide variety of social and educational activities such as arts and crafts, gardening, woodwork, exercise, yoga, music, sewing, theatre and dance.
