Today is National Art in Care Homes day.
The theme this year is "Go Green". Our "go Green" exhibition has been created with love by the residents that live in Haddon Hall Care Home.
Using recycled paper and non toxic, eco friendly paints we have literally "gone green" and with help from Chef Steve, we have created an exhibition focusing on sustainability and caring for our planet, with a little bit of fun thrown in, our study of the Hulk.

This , the Alzheimer's Society are focusing on the importance of community in combating dementia. It will take a society to beat dementia, and we all have a role to play, which is why this incredible charity are asking people to help however they can, whether through fundraising, volunteering, campaigning or becoming a Dementia Friend.

Here at Porthaven Care Homes, our homes regularly fundraise for dementia-based charities, with some of our team members even taking part in sponsored skydives in the past! Many of our team members are also Dementia Friends and work with their local dementia action alliances to make their communities more dementia friendly.

We had the best morning yesterday, when we welcomed Dorcas and David from Brick Corner Café into Haddon Hall to host a Lego building session.👷‍♂️

Our residents, families, and staff all got together to compete and create in ‘The Tallest Tower’ and ‘The Fastest Vehicle’ challenges!
The session had everyone thinking as they used their skills and imagination to problem solve and get creative. 🤔🗼

It was a lovely way to get everyone together, encourage teamwork, and leave us all with a sense of accomplishment. Our thanks go to David and Dorcas, who were absolute bricks for giving up their time to host such a wonderful contest.👏😊

We are now looking forward to their Family Lego Challenge event on Friday, 10th October at 6:30pm!🥇

Today we enjoyed a lively performance from the lovely Claire from ‘Razzle Dazzle’.👏😊

She sang a selection of Country and Western tunes before taking us on a journey through the 50s and 60s. The show was interactive, and everyone was encouraged to sing along and add in a few ‘yeehaws!’🤠

This week has been International house keepers week, and to celebrate our fantastic house keeping team, who do an amazing job of keeping our home clean and tidy, as well as managing a mountain of washing everyday, our home manager has treated the full team to wine and chocolate.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to our Country & Western themed garden party on Saturday, and thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success.🤠

We had a tombola and a raffle, a huge marquee to keep everybody dry and warm (not that it rained), James came to sing for us and he was just brilliant, there was hook a duck and horseshoe rings, the food from our chef Andrew was excellent, and lots of people came in fancy dress.😊☀️

A big thank you to Jeremy and Buxton Brewery Company for providing the bar that went down a storm.🍻

To make the most of a lovely day on Friday, we had a trip out to Newfold Farm at Edale. It's always lovely, and what a fantastic little village Edale is.☀️😊

The trip culminated in a lovely lunch at the Farm café, which everyone seemed to enjoy.
