At Haddon Hall Care Home, we take pride in providing person-centered care.🫂

We would like to share some pictures of Viv from her recent visit to the stables. Viv used to live on a farm and has a great love for animals. It was wonderful to see how happy she was to spend quality time with the horses.🥰🐎

This , we would like to show our gratitude for the superb men who make up Porthaven Care Homes.

We couldn't do what we do without the intelligent, kind, professional, supportive, amusing and passionate men who make up our teams across the country. And, of course, where would we be without our marvellous residents, whose life stories never fail to inspire and surprise us 💙

This year, for BBC Children in Need, we held a traditional pub quiz!

We had drinks and nibbles, and there was a wonderful Chinese for supper, which was made for us by our chefs.

First prize of a hamper stuffed with goodies was won by Kevin & Margaret's team, well done to them.

It was a lovely evening enjoyed by our residents, team and residents' families, and, best of all, we raised over £110 for Children in Need.

Thank you to everyone for coming and supporting Children in Need ❤

Here at Haddon Hall, we are delighted to share that we have been accredited with the Veteran Friendly Framework.

This is a proud milestone for our team and community, making us the first Porthaven Care Home to receive this national recognition. It highlights the dedication, respect, and compassion our team shows in supporting all our residents, including those who have served in the Armed Forces.

The Veteran Friendly Framework acknowledges care providers who go the extra mile to meet the unique needs of veterans, and it ensures that those who have served receive personalised, respectful and informed care that honours their experiences and sacrifices.

Pictured here are just a few of our veterans who are thrilled that their service has been recognised.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved!

This World Diabetes Day, Diabetes UK are challenging the stigma surrounding diabetes and encouraging people to reflect on how they talk about the condition.

Diabetes UK found that, across the UK, over 8 in 10 people with type 1 and over 7 in 10 people with type 2 diabetes say they experience blame and judgement for their condition. It is important that we are all conscious of how the things we say impact others, because our words matter. Together, we can and help improve the lives of those living with diabetes.

Earlier this week, we were delighted to welcome Sarah Dufton, Digital PCSO, and Natalie Lester, PCSO from the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team.

They gave us an informative talk about cybercrime prevention. With more and more of our residents now using computers, iPads, and smartphones, we need to be more aware of how to stay safe online and be able to recognise the scams that can take place.

Sarah and Natalie gave an informative presentation, which the residents agreed had increased their knowledge and made them feel more confident to ‘speak up’ if they suspect suspicious activity online. Afterwards, they stayed and took coffee with the residents whilst answering their questions.

We are most grateful, and would like to remind the officers that they are welcome anytime!

On this remembrance day, Ken, one of our much-loved residents, laid a wreath at the war memorial in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

The war memorial is significant to Ken because his grandson has recently cleaned and restored it; he's done a stunning job, and the names can all be read clearly now as they couldn't before.

Everyone at Haddon Hall would like to thank him for a job well done. And we would like to thank all veterans for their service and for keeping us safe.

To mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, our residents have taken part in memorial services across the country to honour those who served and continue to serve our country. For many of our residents, these dates hold personal significance and provide the opportunity to not only honour their own past, loved ones and friends, but also share memories of such an important part of their lives.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

Lest we forget ❤️
