šāØ This weekās yoga theme was autumn and the art of letting go!
We began with soothing head and face self-massage to arrive in the moment and release tension, then flowed through grounding movements inspired by the season. Like the trees shedding their leaves, we explored what it feels like to release tension and make space for calm š
What are you ready to let go of this autumn? š
BTW: pic was from@some years ago- itās not so leafy droopy yet and Winnieās is a lot bigger šš¶

We are back!! š This week weāre tuning into the psoas muscle ā the deep core connector that supports strength, balance, and ease in every step. šæāØ
Through a mix of strengthening and stretching, weāll help release hidden tension and build stability from the inside out. Think lighter, freer movement and a deeper sense of support in your body. š«
Come join me on the mat and feel the shift! š§āāļøš§š½āāļø

Time off doesnāt just mean putting my feet up⦠itās a chance to try something different! āØ
Today I finally made it back to one of Yvonneās Pilates classes ā itās been far too long since I last went, and I loved every minute! š
This class runs Mondays 10ā11am and is kept small & personal, so you get loads of attention on your technique- which my body definitely appreciated today! (Thereās other days and times too!)
If youāre looking for a gentle-but-effective way to strengthen, stretch, and feel amazing to start your week, I highly recommend it! š
Thanks Runners Hub Buxton š

What Inspires My Yoga Classes? š¤āØ
Books, online trainings, and anatomy research all play their partā¦
But the biggest inspiration? I listen.
I listen to my own body and what itās telling me it needsāand I bring that into class.
I listen to youāwhen you tell me about your aching shoulders or that your job has you hunched over like a human cashew nut.
I watch you too (not in a creepy way, promise š). If I see tension in your face, Iāll bring in more grounding and relaxation.
If I sense frustration or stress, I might add more movement or heat to help burn it off and move it through.
Every class is a response. Itās a conversation. And itās tailored, every time, to meet you where you are.
Thatās the beauty of it š
See you on the mat.

This is me on an a unshiny day. Unshiny not because thereās anything wrong, but because Iām behind on my social media planning/creating. This is - the worst - part of having a small business. For me at least. Anyone else?
As a yoga teacher (and just me as a person), I believe in being present, enjoying the little things, moving the body and not getting distracted from all the above with this little gadget in our hands! šµāš«
Iād not be on it if I could but then I wouldnāt know all the interesting and lovely things happening. Without it, most of my class folk wouldnāt even be at class as they wouldnāt know it was happening. So each week I sit down and try and come up with ideas on how to keep the algorithms interested enough to show people that I teach yoga classes in the community.
So, what do you want to see? Are there questions you have about me, my classes or yoga? Let me know! ā¬ļøā¬ļø

Doing my YTT with was such an amazing experience with gorgeous people that Iāll never forget!
I had no idea how the training would go, the kind of people there, if Iād be able to do it, but so@stumped you just have to jump up in and go for it! Iām so glad I did š§”š§”š§”

I first discovered Yoga back in 2013 as a weekly class that I wedged into my life as some kind of exercise that didnāt look too hard! I soon found that:
1. It was harder than it looked! But my teacher was both encouraging and supportive and thatās what made me come back to the mat every week. She also put up with me and my friend occasionally falling in to fits of giggles when we were trying a difficult pose.
2. I enjoyed not only the classes and postures themselves, but the sense of calm and peace it brought to me during and afterwards.
Unfortunately, a few short years later my Yoga teacher retired. I was without Yoga classes. Dark days! I couldnāt find another Yoga class that suited my schedule, but fortunately I found my sanctuary in dance fitness classes Clubbercise and Zumba. So much fun! Little did I know where they would lead me! Although dance fitness did wonders for my health, both physically and mentally, I still missed that sense of focus and grounding from the āmoving meditationā that is Yoga. In January 2019 I was dreading the days ahead confined to a desk in a stressful veterinary practice management job. I burnt out. I made the decision to quit and take some time out to discover what I really wanted to do. I knew I enjoyed the dance fitness classes. I also enjoyed Pilates classes for that connection and control in my body. However, it was a chance Yoga holiday in Portugal that reignited my love for Yoga and made me wonder if I could teach it. On returning back home I took out my mat again and practiced. I passed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Hero in Leeds in November 2019.
I teach a mixture of Hatha and Vinyasa flow style of practice, combining these with a sense of fun but also bringing the importance of balance between flexibility and strength. Iām also a big believer in mindful practice. Yoga is often seen as a form of moving mediation, which helps to calm the mind. You become so focused on the movements and breath that the constant brain chatter disappears. So for that time you come to the mat, that is where you are and where you belong. Be present and do this for yourself and enjoy it :) My classes are mainly aimed at the beginner, whether thatās someone whoās never been before, someone returning to the mat after a break or the expert Yogi looking for a fresh take.
Likes:
- Yoga. Obviously :)
-Dance fitness classes Clubbercise (which I now teach) and Zumba :)
- Helping people: whether thatās seeing them grow in their practice, improving or getting rid of any physical niggles they had or improving their mental wellbeing from their Yoga practice.
- People asking questions: Itās important to me that you understand your practice. That includes how to practice safely. Also why on earth that pose looks like a cowās face?
- Having a viable reason to wear Yoga pants all the time!!
Dislikes
- A silent class: feel free to ask questions, laugh or cry, but even without any of that I will at least have a mix of introspective electronic soundscapes for us to listen to in the background.
- Unsafe postures: old school forms of Yoga were often very strict on alignment cues. If your back heel wasnāt perfectly in line with your front foot in Warrior 2 then you were doing it wrong. More modern types of yoga recognise that every body is different. And it can be unsafe to push people into so called āperfectā postures.
- Misconceptions about Yoga: things like not being flexible or strong enough- thatās exactly why you should do yoga! ANYONE can do Yoga. If you canāt do a plank or touch your toes, there are adaptions for everyone. Fret not. Yoga is for everybody!
