As we step into a new year, we’re taking a moment to appreciate this one.
The practices shared, the growth (on and off the mat), and the space you help create each week.
Moving into the new year with gratitude, intention and curiosity 🤍✨

I mean, it’s wild you’d consider anything other than Savasana for me 🤣🤣🤣
Constructive rest is the best! 🙌

🧠💚 World Mental Health Day 💚🧠
Since I found that fitness could actually be fun, it’s become much more than just movement for me - it’s been a way to manage my mental health, boost my energy, and reconnect when life feels a bit wobbly.
Like anyone, I have my highs and lows. There are those amazing classes filled with smiley faces, laughter, and lovely feedback that remind me why I love what I do. Then there are the days when something has made me sad, my body doesn’t cooperate, or I’m teaching through an injury and wondering if anyone noticed the squirrels running round my brain! 🐿️
But moving, teaching, and being part of this community always brings me back. Exercise isn’t just about physical strength - it’s about finding balance, resilience, and joy even when things don’t go to plan.
So today, on , I’m reminding myself (and you) to move in ways that make you feel good, rest when you need to, and be kind to yourself — especially on the messy days. 💚

🍂✨ This week’s yoga theme was autumn and the art of letting go!
We began with soothing head and face self-massage to arrive in the moment and release tension, then flowed through grounding movements inspired by the season. Like the trees shedding their leaves, we explored what it feels like to release tension and make space for calm 😌
What are you ready to let go of this autumn? 🍁
BTW: pic was from@some years ago- it’s not so leafy droopy yet and Winnie’s is a lot bigger 😆🐶

We are back!! 🙌 This week we’re tuning into the psoas muscle – the deep core connector that supports strength, balance, and ease in every step. 🌿✨
Through a mix of strengthening and stretching, we’ll help release hidden tension and build stability from the inside out. Think lighter, freer movement and a deeper sense of support in your body. 💫
Come join me on the mat and feel the shift! 🧘♀️🧘🏽♂️

Time off doesn’t just mean putting my feet up… it’s a chance to try something different! ✨
Today I finally made it back to one of Yvonne’s Pilates classes — it’s been far too long since I last went, and I loved every minute! 🙌
This class runs Mondays 10–11am and is kept small & personal, so you get loads of attention on your technique- which my body definitely appreciated today! (There’s other days and times too!)
If you’re looking for a gentle-but-effective way to strengthen, stretch, and feel amazing to start your week, I highly recommend it! 💛
Thanks Runners Hub Buxton 🙏

I first discovered Yoga back in 2013 as a weekly class that I wedged into my life as some kind of exercise that didn’t look too hard! I soon found that:
1. It was harder than it looked! But my teacher was both encouraging and supportive and that’s what made me come back to the mat every week. She also put up with me and my friend occasionally falling in to fits of giggles when we were trying a difficult pose.
2. I enjoyed not only the classes and postures themselves, but the sense of calm and peace it brought to me during and afterwards.
Unfortunately, a few short years later my Yoga teacher retired. I was without Yoga classes. Dark days! I couldn’t find another Yoga class that suited my schedule, but fortunately I found my sanctuary in dance fitness classes Clubbercise and Zumba. So much fun! Little did I know where they would lead me! Although dance fitness did wonders for my health, both physically and mentally, I still missed that sense of focus and grounding from the ‘moving meditation’ that is Yoga. In January 2019 I was dreading the days ahead confined to a desk in a stressful veterinary practice management job. I burnt out. I made the decision to quit and take some time out to discover what I really wanted to do. I knew I enjoyed the dance fitness classes. I also enjoyed Pilates classes for that connection and control in my body. However, it was a chance Yoga holiday in Portugal that reignited my love for Yoga and made me wonder if I could teach it. On returning back home I took out my mat again and practiced. I passed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Hero in Leeds in November 2019.
I teach a mixture of Hatha and Vinyasa flow style of practice, combining these with a sense of fun but also bringing the importance of balance between flexibility and strength. I’m also a big believer in mindful practice. Yoga is often seen as a form of moving mediation, which helps to calm the mind. You become so focused on the movements and breath that the constant brain chatter disappears. So for that time you come to the mat, that is where you are and where you belong. Be present and do this for yourself and enjoy it :) My classes are mainly aimed at the beginner, whether that’s someone who’s never been before, someone returning to the mat after a break or the expert Yogi looking for a fresh take.
Likes:
- Yoga. Obviously :)
-Dance fitness classes Clubbercise (which I now teach) and Zumba :)
- Helping people: whether that’s seeing them grow in their practice, improving or getting rid of any physical niggles they had or improving their mental wellbeing from their Yoga practice.
- People asking questions: It’s important to me that you understand your practice. That includes how to practice safely. Also why on earth that pose looks like a cow’s face?
- Having a viable reason to wear Yoga pants all the time!!
Dislikes
- A silent class: feel free to ask questions, laugh or cry, but even without any of that I will at least have a mix of introspective electronic soundscapes for us to listen to in the background.
- Unsafe postures: old school forms of Yoga were often very strict on alignment cues. If your back heel wasn’t perfectly in line with your front foot in Warrior 2 then you were doing it wrong. More modern types of yoga recognise that every body is different. And it can be unsafe to push people into so called ‘perfect’ postures.
- Misconceptions about Yoga: things like not being flexible or strong enough- that’s exactly why you should do yoga! ANYONE can do Yoga. If you can’t do a plank or touch your toes, there are adaptions for everyone. Fret not. Yoga is for everybody!
