Study Title: Nurturing change: Is there a role for occupational therapy within UK-based womenβs fertility treatment?
As someone who has personal experience with infertility, I have insight into how this can impact many parts of life; however, this is an understanding of my own experience, and I am aware that each journey is unique. My research aims to gain a broader understanding of how fertility impacts women and our occupations to explore if there is a potential role for occupational therapy within UK fertility services. To do this, it is important to understand women's lived experiences, and the data gathered will investigate the effect infertility has on women's occupations.
The term βoccupationsβ refers to the activities we do in our lives that have purpose and meaning, such as leisure, creative, physical, vocational, domestic, or self-care activities.
The research questions will relate to different aspects of a womanβs life, such as social life/ relationships, self-care, and work life, and explore any changes during treatment. Questions about treatment specifics or medical information will not be asked.
This research contributes to my MSc Occupational Therapy (pre-reg) professional programme at the University of Derby.
I am seeking participants who can attend an online interview via Microsoft Teams in January/February 2025 (the time/date will be arranged with each participant).
You must be over 18 and have had treatment in the UK. Please see the poster for further details or contact me directly if you have any questions or you are interested in taking part β Sarah McSherry, MSc Occupational Therapy Student, University of Derby β email s.mcsherry1@unimail.derby.ac.uk
