Snoring is due to the partial closure of the airways during sleep. It affects about 45% of the population leading to disturbed sleep for the sufferer and sometimes their partner.
Ranging from 50-100 decibels, the equivalent of a pneumatic drill, snoring can lead to partnership issues, daytime sleepiness, increased stress and depression if left untreated. Less often snoring can be part of a more serious condition called Obstructive Sleep Apnoea which can be potentially life threatening.
Dentists can provide a solution to snoring with a clinically proven mandibular advancement splint (MAS). The Sleepwell MAS device is the most clinically proven for the treatment of snoring and mild to moderate sleep apnoea.
