Six years ago today I taught my first Zoom yoga class. In those strange lockdown times it was both a blessing and a privilege to still be able to share yoga classes with wonderful people and to stay connected even though the outside world seemed very far away.
Although I will always remember those times with fondness (and the unexpected tech hiccups that we managed to overcome and the mad antics of various pets, mine included), nothing beats the energy of a face to face class. I continue to feel honoured to guide people through their yoga journey and I genuinely treasure the interactions that we have and the relationships that we form in the special and wonderful place that yoga provides. I am so grateful to everyone who comes to class, your presence and vibes are amazing! ❤️

Today marks the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere, the shortest day and the longest night. It provides a moment of stillness and calm in what is often a hectic time point in our lives and offers the chance to reflect and reset.
Make a little time today to invite stillness into your life, to pause and allow your thoughts, mind and body to rest.

Last week I was lucky enough to attend a Meditation, Mantra and Myth retreat in beautiful Dartmoor. It was a truly transformative experience and one that has stayed with me since my return to ‘real’ life. A few days spent with wonderful people, gorgeous weather and surroundings and a rare chance to unplug from tech was just the nourishment my soul needed.
Thank you for making me fall in love with camping! 🙏🏼❤️

Another yoga pic where I am photobombed and upstaged by one of my cats!
In my classes for the last couple of weeks we have been exploring and challenging our balance, not always in an extreme way (I wanted to see if I could hold this one footed squat long enough for a picture: the second shot shows the answer to be ‘only just’!), but sometimes by introducing small changes to the way that we stand or hold ourselves in our everyday lives.
Balance is so important and often overlooked or dismissed and it can be affected by many factors such as tiredness, illness, stress or hormones, but regular practice really does make a difference. Try standing on one leg while you’re waiting for the tea to brew or adding movement to an existing balance challenge!
(But practice with caution and preferably without cats under your feet!) 🙏🏼
