Do you like backbends? 🌈
Last week I revealed that I DO NOT practise backbends… often 😬
Backbends look cool on photos, there’s no denying that 🤷♀️ but unfortunately for people like myself, backbends like wheel pose aren’t ideal and actually flatten the thoracic spine and destabilise the area 😩 I don’t find it painful to get into these poses I just know they aren’t great for me personally, but that does not mean that they aren’t great for YOU ✨ so here are some benefits of back bends;
✨Backbends can strengthen your whole back, shoulders, chest and hips
✨Lengthens your spine, increase flexibility and improves mobility
✨Backbends can relieve tension, tightness and pain
✨If you’re also feeling fatigued these poses can be quite energising ⚡️
If in doubt seek instruction from a qualified yoga teacher and LISTEN TO YOUR BODY 🧘♀️
And to steal a famous Pilates quote remember:
