Wise words as always from Mark Condon

Dear time…

I’m sorry I took you for granted. I should have appreciated you more. I didn’t realize how precious you are.

The first smile you gave me. The first dream I dreamt. The first girl I liked. The first tear I shed. You gave me my first everything. And you will give me last as well.

I thank you for the friends that aren’t here anymore. We drifted apart for reasons not worth mentioning. Our pride got the best of us. But I thank you for the memories. I’m not mad anymore. I’ve let that go.

The grays in my reflection now let’s me know my time is limited with you. I will treasure the rest of my days with you. I hold you close now like my first true love.

I am sorry it took me so long for me to see this. Some lessons have to be learned, and not taught.

Please sign to support the increase in sentences for one punch killings

We would like the Government to pass legislation to introduce increased sentences for one punch assaults and deaths. My family has first-hand experience as our son was killed through a one punch assault - his assailant pleaded not guilty - he was found guilty and given a 7.5 year prison sentence.

This happened to us and so many people I know. Sending love to all who had someone they love taken while they were still living. Dementia is a thief and nobody is immune 💔

I first read this poem when I was 16 years old. Never forgotten it

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is q***r with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow-
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,

Facing our fears is never easy and I doubt this was. Trust, patience and understanding all takes time. I imagine this woman has more of all of that than most people. All fears can however be overcome, you don't have to swim with sharks but you can just start by dipping your toe in the water
