Along with other divisions in Powys and Wales, we've had a busy weekend covering various events. Even our volunteers need a break every now and again and whats better than ice cream during a heat wave.

Thank you so much for those of you who took the time to come along today, those who sent good wishes to us and those who made cakes did the tea's and coffees etc πŸ˜€

We had the first official use of the ramp today by local lady Kath Gethin (pictured).

It was a pleasure to have Richie Paskell visit us and we managed to get a picture of Richie with our new Divisional Officer in Charge Steve and his new Deputy, Donna 😁 I know they will keep this division running smoothly and keep our event organisers happy.

For now this is me (Matthew) officially signing off as the old Division Officer for Caersws. Personal thanks from me to you all, its been a pleasure.

What is happening?

When you call 999 from 1 July 2025, a call taker will ask you for the address of the emergency, whether the patient is breathing and what has happened to the patient in the usual way.

The information is then entered into a computerised priority dispatch system so that help can start to be arranged.

This part remains unchanged.

Patients in the new Purple Arrest category (those in cardiac and respiratory arrest) or Red Emergency category (those at high risk of cardiac and respiratory arrest) will be sent an ambulance as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, calls where there is no apparent immediate threat to life will be subject to a rapid clinical review by a Paramedic or Nurse to ensure patients get the most appropriate help.
